AKL Relocation Decision - Please Help

I also forgot to mention that my room is a conceirge level room and they are only offering a standard room at thr YC. Should I press for a club level at another deluxe resort?

I would...and not to stir the pot further, but I have read on here that club level guests were not being asked to relocate...proves the CMs don't all give out the same info.
Good luck!

Definitely!! See if you can get CR Tower 12 or 14th floor CL- we were on the 14th floor in June and it was fabulous! Great views from the lounges (and your room); huge suites/rooms!

I just got off the phone with a CM and here is the deal. No monorail resorts available. Now they have offered to move me to the Boardwalk Inn Club level. Is that a good deal to consider?

If you weren't booked for the Club/Concierge level at AKV, then Yes, it is a great deal.

In my opinion they are offering you great choices. The YC for $120/night is a steal! SSR 1 bedroom is much more expensive than AKL and the BWI Club Level has absolutely rave reviews here.
I am sorry that you can not stay at the AKL as planned. I am sure that you are disappointed (rightfully so).
BUT I think Disney is going out of their way to try and make you happy.
I would go with the BWI Club Level in a heartbeat.
The Epcot area resorts are our favorite place to stay, bar none. The Monorail resorts are nice with babies and toddlers who need to nap, but your children are past that stage. The Poly is a beutiful resort and I am glad that I have had the chance to stay there, But all that said, I would greatfully go to the BWI Club Level.
Good Luck in your decision and have a great trip.

I think so! if i was planning on staying club level, i would not accept anything unless it was club level, and the boardwalk is more expensive and in a better location than AKL. I say go for it at the BW!

Yes, Boardwalk concierge is a good deal! While SSR is quite nice, and "best" is in your eyes only, the Boardwalk Inn is a beautiful resort. It's also convenient to EPCOT, there are several dining options, even more if you jump to BC/YC. If you want to "chill" concierge at the BWI would be better than the vacation home experience at SSR. Completely different, one would be pampering the other more on your own.

Good luck with your decision!

Going to bump this.

I just got the same call. We (my 9 year old daughter and I) were supposed to be at AKL 7/16-7/23. She's a huge animal lover, and now we are presented with Saratoga springs and Wilderness villas.

We're both very disappointed.
Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks.

May I ask what are the dates of your stay?

BWI is beautiful but the pool is not that great. Can you get YC conceirge level? If so that would be the way to go. The pool at YC/BC is MUCH better then the one at the BW. I hate that ugly clown!

dce123, negotiate? What room type did you have at AKL?

If I were you I would call back and ask if you could get BC OR YC club level.
I love BW and will be staying there in August but the pool is not as good as SAB.You and your Kids will have a blast there.

We had the same decision to make last Friday. We are going to arrive on July 9th. We were offered SSR with a discount, but I asked our travel agent to call back and request Polynesian as my first choice and Yacht Club as my second choice.

Meanwhile, my 14 year old son discovered that we had the chance to stay at YC with SAB and REALLY begged to stay there. So when the TA called back that they were going to allow us to switch to the Polynesian I asked her to call again and try for YC. We got it!

I also have a 10 year old daughter and I know that both kids are going to LOVE the pool at YC.

With your kid's being about the same age I am sure that they would love it also.

I don't think I'd personally "demand" a monorail resort considering you weren't on one to begin with. And proximity to the parks probably isn't a big deal since the AKL is kinda remote too. Having said that either YC (a nice deluxe resort with a great location) or the SSR would be a step up, going from a Deluxe to a DVC resort (which is a deluxe resort and then some) is better than AKL. Yes the view, the decor and overall feel of the resorts are different based on their themeing but I would have loved to have stayed at a DVC resort for deluxe resort prices.

Good luck and I hope they can make you happy with your accommodations.

Funny. We are AKL refugees too. I was not interested in SSR because we are 3 families traveling and for the most part no one wanted to put up with the dreaded pull out for a week. My first choice was either Yacht or Beach Club since I knew the kids would love the pool. Since both YC and BC were booked, our travel agent called and got us in at GF. So, quite by accident, we are at a monorail resort. Not that I am complaining...

Just my 2 cents - but if you are going to chill out the last two days and not visit parks then the 1 bedroom at SSR is they way I would go. The pull out in the livingroom is a memory foam mattress and one of the most comfortable I've slept in - I am hoping they upgrade the WLV soon. In addition - you'll have a full kitchen, washer and dryer (if you so inclined to start the laundry), a nice size living room, a jacuzzi tub and separate shower in the bathroom and a king size bed in the master bedroom. You can walk to DTD to chill or go to the pool. The 1 bedroom does give you a lot of space to spread out.
Good Luck.

This is going to be a tough choice. I really want to stay at AKL. These will be the last two days of a eight day trip and we were going to "chill" out for two days at the AKL. But I do not want to be disturbed and not enjoy it. What is the hands down best resort that I should request for relocation?

The remoteness of the locations will help with the chill factor and they both have boat access to the DTD area for urban chilling and access to resort transfer busses (SSR is actually close enough to walk)

Take the BWI CL and run with it. You are getting a higher up deluxe for the AKL price. That is my second favorite hotel after AKL. I hear the CL is number one on property. Let us know what you decide. The only other option I would chose would be YC or BC CL. With your kids ages I would stick with the Epcot area though. You will love it over there.

What is going on with Disney overbooking all their resorts? First POP, now AKL.

Hmmm wondering if my 1 night on August 31st will be affected - we have 2 rooms - a pool view and a sav. view!! sure hope not as AKL was the one resort we've never been to and the purpose of our 1 night was to check it out to see if we wanted to add more DVC points! We do love SSR but with paying cash for the one night I'd much rather try out a different resort that we've never stayed at before since SSR is our home resort!
