We check in Nov 18th. We made the reservations requesting a room with bunk beds, are you assured that you will get what is requested? Also are there coffee pots (with coffee, cream, sugar and cups) and small fridges in all rooms? This is our first family trip and my first trip since 1992, my kids are so excited to stay at AKL and my husband's birthday is on Thanksgiving so I wanted to stay at a really nice resort. Anyone who can help - thanks in advance.

They try to honor requests but aren't always able to do it. Each room does have a coffee pot (with coffee, maybe sugar/sugar substitute), fridge, ironing board/iron and hair dryer.

I don't think they can guarantee bunk beds but everything else is a yes.

This is a wonderful resort - you will love the balcony, animal viewing and the CM's interaction. Your kids should consider doing the memory bead project, 4 different activities with a bead as a reward on a rope string. Then at the end you get a speical animal bead and make a vow to help an animal. Honestly with all the greatness of the parks my dd's talk about the memory beads more than the parks, as well as the CM's and animals at the AKL.

We had a wonderful room and even though we requested bunk beds we did not get them. In the end it didn't matter - I put an extra pillow between them but we have two dd's.

We did have a good size mini fridge and 4 cup coffee maker with a couple bags for each day. 2 caf and 1 decaf IIRC.

Have a wonderful time - I have some of the brochures so if you have more questions please ask away.

TJ

eta - the cream is powder so grab some real cream or milk from the food court and put it in the fridge if you like real cream or milk.

Thanks for the wonderful answers. Since our trip is only 18 days away, I'm trying to get all of my necessary items ready. My DS is 3 and has to have his OJ so the fridge is a must. My DD9 is looking forward to the activities at the resort. I want to do the firepit story telling. My kids were just looking forward to the bunkbeds because we don't have them. But a queen bed will be good enough.

Hi,

We have stayed at the AKL five times since it opened in April of 2001 and are scheduled to stay again in Jan of 2006.

The bunk beds is a just a request. Like any resort Disney or not they try to grant as many of their guests requests as possible but should be prepared just in case they are not able to honor your request.

They do have fridges and coffee makers and product in the rooms.

What view did you book?

We are booked with a water view, I would love to have a savannah view but the price was more than I wanted to pay.

Last spring, I went to Disney with my sister and her two DDs. We requested bunk beds at AKL for our pool view room, and did not get them. Had two queens instead. Lesson learned! You have to be prepared to not get the bunks, just in case. Next time I travel with my two nieces, I will bring an aerobed or book a deluxe with a daybed.

We are pool views twice and they were both very nice. There are plenty of public viewing areas to see the animals. Hope you have a great trip.

We stayed at AKL last November and we felt that the price of the upgrade was a little steep for us too, so we booked a pool view room. When we checked in we asked about an upgrade to a savannah view and they said it would be $10 a night. We felt that was something we were willing to pay! It was well worth it!! We got a great room with bunk beds and a view of the animals. It was a real treat to wake up early since the animal keepers are out feeding the animals and you can see them all so active.
