We will be getting in early in the afternoon and plan to just hang out at the hotel in the afternoon and evening. I have a reservation at Boma but I also think I remember reading about such things as storytime and animal feedings . . . Is this information available anywhere?

Thanks!

I know there was a storytime, I dont recall an animal feeding. There is the night vision googles after dark, that was really cool! They used to do a kids type parade around the gift shop, I know they post a list around the hotel.

There's a bulletin board right near the entrance/front desk area that lists all the activities. In addition, the front desk has a printed list they can hand out, as well.

There's tons of stuff, from cultural art tours from some of the cultural reps working at AKL, to the firepit story time, to the night vision goggles. There's stuff for pretty much every age group going on at some point during a week....and it's all pretty interesting.

We even like to just look around the gift shop. We love that gift shop.
There is so much to do there... even if you arne't planning to do anything LOL

Thanks for the replies. Does anyone know, are the activities on a set schedule (like does the same thing happen every Saturday)? Or could we call and find out the schedule a few days in advance?

Thanks!

Not sure on the schedule. I know the fire pit storytime happens pretty much the same time every night. So do the night vision goggle activities.

But the tours and such, I'm not sure on.

You can DEFINITELY call a few days prior to get the current (and likely following) week's schedule.

Here's the AKL direct #:

407-938-3000

That will probably get you the WDW switchboard (not AKL front desk). Just explain what you're looking for and ask to be transferred to the front desk.

I would think you'd be able to call a few days in advance and ask about the scheduled activities. Also, the animal feeding refers to the flamingos out by the pool. They do this daily, in the late afternoon if I recall. We've seen it a few times.

Viewing the animals at night with the night vision goggles is great activity.:3dglasses i wanted to do it on our last trip, but they ran out. :( hopefully this trip we'll be able to view the animals at night.

Do you have to be staying at AKL to use the night vision goggles? We'll be dining there one evening at Boma (to check out the hotel for a possible future stay) and I was wondering if we could do it too. ANyone know for sure? Thanks

You do not have to stay at the AKL to enjoy it. You can tour the Lodge, use the night vision goggles, listen to the stories around the firepit, and check out the animals on the savannahs. There is also a culinary tour (Jiko and Boma) around 4 p.m. Check out the activities board in the lobby (left side when entering).

Thank you! I can't wait for our evening there. Sounds like we'll have a lot to do!

We really love talking with the CM's around the Savanna. I like the gift shop also. Very different from all others.
