AKL, POR, or CSR for us?(me, 55!!! and DD 19)

Liz (DD) knows we are going (1/3 for 5 nights) but wants to be surprised resort-wise. Oh....the pressure! DH not coming this time. Just us. No car. We will do Solei Tues night. POR is closer to DD with some of it's early evening stuff, but AKL's magic is calling me. Do you think it is too remote--too long to travel to DD by bus if we plan to go several times? CSR has its appeal, too, but I keep getting stuck when I wonder which one might appeal most to a 19 yr. female. Have any of you that have actually been there noticed a trend in the age pop? I promise this is the last thread! Anyway, have so enjoyed reading all the posts!!!

AKL and CSR are my favorites!!! AKL would be the best!!! It seems remote, but it's not really. It's about a 5 minute ride to AK, 10 to MGM or Epcot and 15 to MK. We also took the bus to DTD. It wasn't too bad- better than from the Contemporary to DTD. That was the WORST!!!

AKL's bus service is great because it's just the one stop and they don't share with another resort.

The resort itself is incredible!!!!

Tough to compare a deluxe to a moderate. AKL would be my first choice and CSR next.

I love POR and would stay there at any age. I think your daughter would enjoy POR, plus the boat ride to DD can't be beat.

My 2 DDs (ages 18 and 20 at the time) stayed at AKL last January and absolutely loved it. The 20 year old is majoring in wildlife science and was thrilled to be able to go out on the balcony and see giraffes (and zebra and kudu and ostrich and so on). We ate a Jiko, and they were both old enough to enjoy the place and the food. For an unforgettable trip with a daughter old enough to really appreciate it, AKL is the best!

AKL is a destination unto itself and the bus service is not that bad. As for the moderates love the mansion section of POR.
But for you I vote for AKL, not to mention it is a deluxe.

Am I nuts, or what? Actually came home at lunch break to check out possible responses! AKL sounding better and better. Will probably have to watch the $$$ on tickets, though, but I think it will be a better trade off. Can't imagine we would actually do DD every night we are there, and that's the reason I wanted the Ultimate PH pass. When I read the stuff, I think we will do EVERYTHING, when, in reality, we both want some free time just to veg a little. I am so excited I can hardly stand it! Appreciate the feedback!

Just got back from a similar trip with my mother (I'm in my 30's-she's in her 60's - Dad stayed home). We LOVED AKL. I've stayed at all 3 you mentioned and would pick AKL again in a heartbeat. If your budget allows, I highly recommened it. The bus system was fantastic. Never a long wait and only one stop! (Where CSR and POR will have a few). We also both loved La Nouba. Can't comment on bus service to Downtown Disney though. I had a car and drove there each time I went.

I also really like both CSR and POR so if you end up there, you won't be disappointed, I just think AKL is in a league by itself!

I've read on the boards that there is a direct boat from POR to Downtown Disney. If she is a partier, it might be convenient for her to go to Pleasure Island.

The boat to DD from POR is real consideration. She doesn't really "party" all that much (only 19) but likes music, comedy and stuff. When I first starting thinking about the trip I envisioned our going DD often. Now I wonder if we really will go that many times....Also, I read that the place is really geared to the 20-early 30's, She saw the GF and wanted that. HA. I said, Wish we could but............oh well, at least she has good taste! She also saw Ft Wilderness and thought it was neat. I am actually now thinking about CR. So, I just keep reading all the posts here and other places. One of these nights it will click and I will have the phone in my hand and a deposit on my credit card! So, for now, I am still thinking, AKL, POR, CSR, WL, CR? (Haven't seen too many posts about the CR) It's great to hear about all trips. I love DW. I'm trying to make a list of the things we should do other than Solei...At any rate, I did cancel Wyndham Palace today.

I would choose AKL. I wouldn't 'make the tansportation factor a big issue. I think you should make your choice based on the resort itself. I'm not sure how long the bus from AKL to DD takes, but the water taxi from POR to DD seemed to take a LONG time! I really love POR, but AKL really has that wow factor that will make for a nice surprise.

Of those three, I would choose AKL, the CSR. Those are the next two resorts on my list of places to stay. I think that you will not be disappointed. If you and DD reallly like animals, go with the AKL. It might be a great experience for the two of you.

We are so excited!! Finally decided this would be the resort for us this time. Have requested bld. 38 riverview bayou. Saw some fabulous pics here and there....Thanks so much for your help. I am getting so many excellent tips/ideas from this site. Now, to book dinners....
