AKL Pool View

Hi!

We stayed at the AKL-Jambo last January and fell in love. If we are lucky enough to get to stay again in November (hoping for good discounts!!) I was thinking of requesting a pool view, simply so we would be closer to the restaurants, Kids Club and of course the pool. So I wouldn't really care about the view, simply location.

Those of you who have gotten pool view rooms, are they mostly all close to the restaurants and that whole pool hub area?

We booked a pool room last May and loved it! I'll admit, I'm not an animal fan and I love water views, so this worked out particularly well for me. We were steps away from the pool and everything was so close. Now, if we used the internal hallways, it didn't feel like the lobby was really close. But there was a stairwell right outside our room that led down to the pool, Mara and the path to the lobby. Very quick. We spent a good amount of time out on the balcony and it was very relaxing with a tropical feel.

I couldn't believe the pool view was just a few dollars more than the standard view. I'd actually choose pool view over savannah, even without the cost difference. Point is, I can't say enough good things about this room!

I would so much rather have a "tropical" than a "deserty" vibe. I loved the savanah views, we were blessed with a partial savanah view with our standard view room, but the pool is so breathtaking, I would much rather look at that.

I was looking at our map of AKL and saw some of the rooms that are on the opposite loop of the resort away from the pool area, I would hate to be stuck out there, even though I'm sure the views of the animals are far superior. I'll gladly pay about $10 more a night to be near the pool/restaurants.

Boma is our favorite restaurant on all of Disney property, so that is a main draw for staying there again. I keep thinking it might be nice to try someplace different, but I do a little pro/con list in my head and AKL wins hands down every time.

The view is lovely but be forewarned - they have loud, blaring, annoying "pool parties" for the kids every day between 2:00pm and 4:00pm. We tend to be in the room at that time and I absolutely hate it, so I quit booking pool view anywhere on Disney property.

we love the pool view also!! Once at check in they upgraded us, but when we got to the room and noticed the brown open areas and no animals we went back to the front desk and asked nicely for Pool view (which is what we had booked) The view is so lush and tropical,and when we wanted to go watch the animals we went to the viewing areas, works for us. 4th floor and not far from the elevator that brought us right down to the 1st floor, laundry was right there, then we went out the doors and went into the Mara. I loved the location!
