AKL Pool View Recommendations

We're staying at the AKL in a pool view room. Does anyone have any recommendations on what request, if any, to make. The reason I'm asking is I took a look at the allears site & there was a picture of a pool/roof view. I'm not sure if it was taken from a room, but if so, the view was obstructed and I'd like to avoid that if possible. Any suggestions? Thanks!

We had a third floor room over the spa/fitness center that we absolutely loved. The view was so beautiful. We could even see animals in the distance. We spent lots of time on the balcony soaking it all in. I can also tell you what NOT to ask for. When we there in December I reserved pool view again because we enjoyed the room so much the last time. They put us in a first floor room next to Mara and we could see absolutely nothing except bushes and peoples' heads as they walked by a few feet away. I (politely of course) told the front desk people that I did not consider that to be pool view; I expected at least a glimpse of the pool. They said they DID consider that pool view and that I was paying for pool access, not the view. Anyway, to make a long story short after much discussion they did move us. Just make sure you don't get that room!!

We stayed in one of the first rooms off the lobby, 4th floor Giraffe Trail. We looked at all the roofs of the restaurants, just a tidbit of pool because of a tree by our room blocking our view, and across to rooms on Zebra Trail that were regularly hanging their beach towels on their rails. It was disappointing to pay extra for the pool view and get to see mostly roofs. We never used our balcony - opted to sit elsewhere in hotel with better views. I will either go back to savanna view again (which we loved) or save the money and just ask for standard view.

We had a similar experience, we were put in a room on the first floor, with bushes on the other side of the balcony and not too much of a view of the pool. We had already moved rooms once to get bunk beds so we just went with it, but at first we were disappointed. By the end of our stay, we like the location of the room as it was close to the door and right outside the pool. If we were in the pool and wanted something, it wasn't a long walk back to the room. It was nice being that close to the Mara for mug refills. I also ran a got breakfast and brought it back to the room it was so close. My wife thought I was her very own version of Room Service, but she didn't have to tip me.

I would have preferred more a view, but it worked out just fine because of the convienence.
