AKL 'people pen' views?

Can anyone tell me what this is? Can you still see animals from this view (if they happen to be around, that is)? I don't mind seeing the people if I can still see the animals, too!

People pens are a little fenced off area where if there was a fire, people would go to evacuate (b/c they can't just walk out in the savannahs with the animals I guess). So some rooms would over look a fenced in area while others just have the savannah.

I didn't see any people pens on the Arusha Savannah, maybe someone will know for sure if there are any on that savannah Does anyone know which savannahs have them?

It seems like when people w/standard or pool view rooms get upgraded to savannah view, they get a room overlooking a people pen a lot of times. But anyone could get a room overlooking them I guess. -Stephanie

I got upgraded to a savannah view from standard. We were on one of those little halls that go out from the main building. Our view was of a people pen and some fences. Not much savannah there. We were only there for one night, but only saw 2 cattle things and one giraffe. The room was a long ways from the lobby. We discovered why the hallways are called trails--they are long, narrow, and winding! The room was fine, but if I had paid for a savannah view, I would have been very unhappy!

We had a room overlooking the Sunset Savannah...people pen to the left, Savannah right in front of us. No problem seeing animals at all...except that according to the animal keeper I spoke with the animals on that Savannah are shy and like to hide during the day. We saw animals...just not lots of them.

We had a savanah room on the Uzima savanah. The people pen was to the left, but it really didn't bother us since the animals were out like crazy in our area. We saw tons of animals, so didn't ask to be switched. The pens were really not an issue for us.

LOL! We also had a room with a people pen just to the right. We saw animals all the time (Kudu Trail). The people pen only distracted me, since I thought it was an animal pen and constantly checked it to see if any animals were in it! LOL!

Love AKL - can't wait until our stay in August!

Wow. We've been upgraded to a savannah view a couple of times when staying on an AP reservation and I never realized they were people pens. Just thought it was a buffer between the resort and the animal areas. I don't think they are that obtrusive. We've always seen lots of animals from these room.
