AKL or WL

I have WL courtyard view reserved for X-mas, unfortunately even with an AP I am paying rack room price($270) because of the increase in nightly price on my dates(12/19-12/29).

AKL has a standard view for my dates at $215 a night, how is AKL during x-mas and what about the ongoing construction during this time?
