AKL or Saratoga Springs?

We have a trip in June, staying 5 nights at Wilderness Lodge, and decided to tack on one additional night. Wilderness lodge is not available in our room category that last night, so we will choose another Disney resort. Debating between AKL (standard room) & Saratoga Springs (1-bedroom) which are priced comparably and in our budget.

Two adults, one very tall teenager & a 12-year old in our party. The extra sleeping space in a 1-bedroom and having a washer and dryer that last night are why I’m considering SS. But the theming of AKL seems so fun, and this will likely be our family’s last Disney trip for awhile. So, can’t decide if the extra space of SS is worth sacrificing the uniqueness of AKL!

Last day we are at Typhoon Lagoon (and gave our car) so proximity to parks isn’t a factor.

Any advice?

hmmm, my opinion is that it depends on what you plan on doing at the resort. AKL is very unique, has better food options (in my opinion) , has better themed pools and of course has the animals and way more to see in the lobbies. I prefer the rooms at SSR, but the resort is more laid back and has less to offer. It's super convenient if you plan on spending some time at Disney Springs.

I’d go for a one bedroom any time especially With 2 kids. You can always go to AK and walk around, look at animals, maybe have a meal. We do that every time we go to DW. At SS you’re close to Disney springs for meals and entertainment. And you’re close to typhoon lagoon.

Tough decision! But I'd go for the 1-bd at SSR with the extra room. Especially if you have your own car. The pools at SSR are fun and the resort is lovely. Take advantage of the W&D and get some laundry done and go home with clean laundry 😁

Idk, it's only for one night so it's not a deal breaker really but if your goal is to do laundry, it would be nice to have a unit in the room as opposed to having to run down the hall with your clothes. And AKL has some long long hallways.

For us, we have two teens, I'd go SSR for the space and W&D. AKL is nice but based on your kids' ages, seeing animals isn't probably going to be all that thrilling. And yes, AKL is a much more unique resort/theming/lobby than SSR but it's for one night and I think if I were you, I'd want more space than a unique hotel for one night only.

If you said you would be getting a savannah room, my answer might be different, but for a standard room vs laundry and more space, I would go with SSR. As someone previously mentioned, if you really wanted to look around and have a meal, you could do that easily, especially as you will have a car.

AKL is my very favorite resort, hands down, but for only one night, with your travel party, I'd take the 1br at SSR. PLEASE don't do laundry on your last night of vacation! Walk over to Disney Springs, window shop, eat good food, snacks, beverages. Enjoy that last night!
