AKL or POR for 12/31 thru 1/5

Hi all! I have POR booked for 12/31 thru 1/5. I love POR. I think the grounds are beautiful and the theme of the resort is so peaceful to me. I also love the boat ride to DS. Just recently, though, I have been debating about AKL. We have never traveled to WDW at this time of year, and I have started to think about the variability of the weather. I am wondering if we might appreciate the indoor corridors of AKL compared to the sprawling layout of POR. I am also wondering if POR will be extra crowded due to the construction at CSR and CBR. Any thoughts you have would be appreciated!

We've never stayed at POR, but we love AKL. If you use Disney transportation and don't mind the buses, I would definitely consider changing to AKL. AKL is an awesome resort with great dining options and is beautifully decorated for the holidays. I'm sure you'll have a great time at POR, but if AKL is within your budget and there is availability for your dates, I'd make the change for something different. Good luck .

Those are my two favorite resorts!

If you're looking for peaceful, I think AKL definitely has that covered, too. I think you'd be fine at POR; I stayed at CSR in December and it did get kind of cold, but it wasn't much of an issue - at least not much rain that time of year! But if you're looking to switch it up and stay someplace new, I highly recommend AKL.

I prefer AKL anytime, so I would say go for it!

I agree with everything that Mickeynut1 said!!!

AKL is beautiful, very exotic, has incredible theming, and is convenient to the Animal Kingdom for Pandora. The dining options are awesome. We make the trip to the AKL every trip even when not staying there, in order to eat at at least one of their restaurants. Jiko, Sanaa and Boma are all delicious!! Mara is one of our favourite QS venues in WDW.

POR is lovely, and we have stayed here as well, but we do prefer AKL for the small price increase. Just having a balcony to enjoy is worth the price difference to us.
