I've stayed at the AKL but not the GF...yet.
The AKL has a theming that more cultural while the GF is more 'era'. It's just different. Unlike at the GF, the resort isn't broken up into separate buildings.
The theming is very nice at the GF and I'm very interested in trying it, but the AKL really makes you feel like you're really in some far-away place. I like the Poly for that reason as well.
My only beef with the AKL is the bus transportation. Not that it's bad because it really wasn't. It's just that it seemed to take forever to get the MK. But on the buses we hardly ever had to stand and the buses came very prompt and often.

I actually cried when we were checking out. Buses were not a problem for us. Our wait time was always 10 min. or less (except for one early AM to MK), and our actual ride time was perfect (we were able to review our maps and plans for the day). December can't get here soon enough for me.
