AKL or Coronado Springs Xmas week??

We are debating between staying at AKL and Coronado Springs Xmas week. (Arriving Xmas day) The Savannah view is available at AKL vs. a standard view at CS. We will save $500 if we stay at CS.

We've stayed at WL and CBR so we have some idea what the rooms are like at AKL and CS. The rooms at either hotel are OK and I wouldn't make the decision based on the room itself. Obviously the Savannah room is nicer but we are interested in the other attributes of each resort as well.

Yes we can swing the additional $500, but I'd like to put the $500 to the best use. We could always use the $500 for other activities or nicer meals on vacation. So please help me understand what the pros and cons are of each resort.

How do the pools compare? How does the bus service compare? (we've had trouble with the busses at CBR in the past). Do you like the food court at CS or the fast food restaurant at AKL better? (we don't do sit down breakfasts).

I've stayed at both AKL and CSR and I like them both (CSR is my favorite moderate).

If the $500 isn't too much of a big deal, I'd take AKL. I've never stayed at AKL during Christmas, but I've read many posts that the lobby is beautifully decorated. At AKL you'd see this every time you leave your room. At CSR, you might not see the decorations as often because you don't have to go through the Registration Bldg/Pepper Market all the time.

I thought the bus service was better at AKL - the resort does not share buses and there is only 1 stop. The CSR bus was fine, but there are 4 stops throughout the property.

Food courts always seem to be better at the moderates than they are at the deluxes. The Mara at AKL is fine but there isn't a lot of variety (though for a frame of reference, I think it's superior to Roaring Forks at WL). The Pepper Market at CSR definitely wins in my opinion.

I think the pools are about equal. AKL only has 1 pool; CSR has a main pool and 3 smaller (non-descript) pools.

Both resorts are very nice, but I like AKL better because you can lounge around in your room on the balcony looking at the savannah; it has a more resort-y feel to it.

Save the $500! Use it for character meals or a nice sit down dinner or buy Xmas presents for you and the family or save it for the next trip.

CSR is a beautiful resort! We're staying there again after our Disney Cruise!!

Both resorts are very nice, and I have stayed in both at Christmas before.

If you don't mind the double beds at Coronado, save the $500 and stay there. If you want the queen beds (and the other options of the deluxe resorts) then I would say go for AKL. Either way you cannot lose as both resorts are gorgeous!
