AKL - opinions needed (a little long)

I need an honest opinion. Here's the situation:

I got my husband to finally agree to a vacation in November (you know, the dreaded Jersey Week) and since money is a little tight since we bought a new house, we booked ASMu. My husband's dream is to stay in the AKL with a savannah view room. I was considering just upgrading to AKL secretly for the last 2 nights of our trip because of a few reasons:

#1. This will most likely be our last trip, just the two of us because we would like to start trying to start a family. (I'd really like to try during this vacation, honestly)

#2. He has had a really difficult year. Last July, his father passed away suddenly at the age of 54. This threw everyone for a loop and now my husband, the only man in the family left, has been very stressed worrying about his mother and sisters. In addition to this, in September of last year, he was fired from a company that IMO really treated him like crap. (Especially during July, he was not given bereavement days and had to take days off out of his sick day allotment - and he only got 5 sick days a year)

#3. He did get a job and a wonderful one at that with a 14k raise to boot. In addition, he's getting a promotion with another 7k (approx.) raise. All this in less than a year and without a college degree. This is something I really want to celebrate!

What do you think? It's a little over 400 dollars more to upgrade for those 2 days for a savannah view room. Is two days enough? I really wish I could upgrade for the whole time but there's just not enough money for that.

Your opinions are greatly appreciated.
Thanks in Advance.
Stephanie

I would book the AKL we love it there! We celebrated Valentine's Day this year and DHs birthday. Consider it his special treat! You will not regret it, I promise.

If you can easily swing the extra $400, I say go for it! The AKL is wonderful, and it sounds like you and your DH could use something special!

Enjoy!

I say book it, even if it is only for 2 nights. Like you said, it might be the last time the 2 of you can enjoy it alone. Sounds like you guys really deserve it. It is a beautiful and very romantic resort. :flower:

I hope two days at AKL is enough, because that's what DS and I are doing to! (5 at CSR first, then AKL). If you can manage it, I'd definitely do it! Have a great time!

If you can afford a couple nights - go for it! Sounds like y'all could use the treat. It really is a spectacular experience. DH & I have a couple solo nights planned there this Dec before our kids come down to meet up for the week. It is very romantic. A perfect place to inspire working on that family!

2 days are plenty. try to save AK for that end of the trip so you can spend as much time at the resort as possible. We got there at 3, our room was ready, and we made Boma's res for 7pm. We spent our afternoon exploring the resort, and doing a photo safari. There are tons of viewing areas, so don't just look off your balcony.

We went to AK the next day till around 1, then back to AKL for the rest. ate at Jiko's that night, and ordered the dessert sampler from room service later in the evening ;) We had a terrific time. and actually were glad we split our stay. We stayed at the Swan for the first 5 days, AKL that last part.

It was a dream of mine also, and I 'm glad I did it., but for me, the 2 nights was just the right amount.

For this special occasion I would do it as well. Our first stay at AKL was in January and we loved it. We were there a week, but I would go for even 2 nights as well. This time we are staying at POP because we can't get a decent code, and I will miss the wonderful atmosphere at AKL. The staff is wonderful as well.

Go for it! AKL Savannah View is beautiful! If DVC makes villas there, that would be my "home"! I love it!

BOOK IT!!!!!!!!!!! Honey you two need a great vacation and with all the stress and worry you want to be able to concentrate on that family you want to start. But one warning AKL is addictive!

Do it. Have a magical time at AKL! I think you guys deserve it!! Celebrate his new promotions and "celebrate the brighter tomorrow!"
