AKL - Night Vision

We will be at AKL over Labor Day weekend. We have never stayed there before. I have heard about the Night Vision program, but don't know much about it. I have several questions and would like to hear about the experiences of others.

1. Does this program happen every might?
2. Is there a cost?
3. Do you need to sign up in advance?
4. Are kids allowed?
5. Where does this program happen?
6. What time does this program run?

Hi,

Its not so much a program as it is just part of the lodge. I believe every evening there is someone out there with night vision goggles thats more than happy to let anyone (kids too) use them and spot the animals and talk about them. This is free. The guides are usually from areas where these animals live or they know A LOT about them. You just go out the doors in the back of the lodge, and the whole area is very nice...there is a fire pit where they tell stories with rocking chairs all around, and people stroll around...definetely worth checking out!

They were using the night vision goggles on one of the balconies when we caught up with them. You go out the back door to the viewing area. Next to the entrance is stairs on both sides to balcony areas. One was open and people were lined up to use the night vision goggles. I didn't look through them but DS did and said that the animals looked "neat."
