AKL Night Vision???

Hi All,

For some reason I remember reading somewhere about the possibility of renting night vision scopes at AKL, but everywhere I look there is no mention of it whatsoever...am I losing my mind? Did I make this up? If not, does anyone know about them and the price?

When we were at AKL we didn't have to rent the night vision binoculars. When we walked out onto the observation area off the main lobby there was a CM who was sharing a pair of binoculars with guests. There was only one pair but there were only 4 or 5 guests who wanted to use them.

We were just a AKL and you could look through the night vision telescopes (not binoculars) at Arusha lookout. There were 2 CM's with a few telescopes to share with guests.

I thought that I read somewhere that the savannahs were artificially lit at night. Is that right?

Hi there...

Yes the savana is lit by a artificial moonlight.. which is just as it sounds... seeing the animals by moonlight is still difficult.

With the night vision scopes you can make out great detail although though a greenish hue... but it is pretty cool!

When we were stayed at AKL there were a couple "guides" with night vision binoculars at the Outcropping Observation area every night. We never had to wait more than a couple minutes and we all got to look.

Also if you have a Video Camera with nightvision, it will also work for you!
