AKL mess!

First I think it is outrageous that Disney is displacing so many guests at AKL.

With the AKL guests moving to a differnet resort, how will this effect the people who already have ressies at the new resort?

We will be at the CR Wings next week. I am a little concerened that when we arive we will be told we have to move to a different resort because the displacws guests at from the AKL will be moved to the CR.

Should I be concerned about this. We have not received a call from disney about having top move.

On edit: I'm just concerned with getting the room type we have reserved. I don't care about and do not expect any upgrades.

Don't think you have any worries about being displaced from cr. I was just booted from akl and was offered lots of choices that according to disneys website are not available. I believe they are holding some rooms available for the akl displaced. I would think if anything that you would be upgraded to tower . Good luck, no worries!!

I would think the displaced AKL guests would get the tower. Like I said before though. All I'm looking for is the room type we reserved. I do not expect nor do I believe I deserve an upgrade.

I tried to get cr tower but they said no, it would have to be a lateral move and that would be an upgrade, I haven't heard of any akl relocator being offered cr tower, I have seen a few that were offered cr garden view, as I was too

I really don't think this will be NEARLY the issue in the real world that people seem to think it will be here on the boards.

There are over 4800 deluxe level rooms available at Disney deluxe resorts not counting AKL.

Before the work started there were 1200 or so rooms at AKL. Obviously way too many... hence the DVC conversion.

Presuming AKL was completely sold out -- which I can completely assure you it has not been sold at the 1200 room level, because 3 floors of rooms were taken out of inventory for the DVC conversion - but let's assume it was actually all 1200 rooms sold out...

That would only fill each of the remaining deluxe resorts to 25% capacity .. presuming even distribution. And that doesn't take into account the people who chose to stay at DVC resorts instead of the actual hotels.

Trust me.. this will be a NON issue for your stay.. don't worry -- be happy!

I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I guess the closer the vacation gets the more wooried I get that something will go wrong. I guess I need to chill.

When are you going to AKL and what kind of room do you have? We'll be there 8/17 - 8/24 (AKL or somewhere) and have CL. I'm just trying to figure out if any CL people have been foced to move.

From what I've read elsewhere, the CL guests will not be asked to move. I'm sort of banking on it as well, as that is where we will be too! We are staying from 9/16-9/22, so are past the dates they are moving, but I also read somewhere else that they were extending the dates to 9/30. When I wrote to the IPO people at AKL, they said our dates were outside the expected relocation times, and since we were CL, we would be staying, but they would keep me updated. Good luck, and keep us posted on how your trip ends up!
