AKL LITE unofficial FAQ thread#10 - I believe that's known as a 'Jambo Dozen'

Wow, I didn't know they had a webcam like that. That would be neat...

....I don't remenber who it was, but back in the days of the old AKL when I started the first thread, someone was staying at AKL for 10 days and had set up a webcam on their balcony [I am guessing, while they were in the parks] for during the day. At first, it appeared to be a photo, not unlike yours, until, at various times, all of the sudden you'd see a zebra or giraffe or kudu saunter by.....it was way kewl....

Welcome, Amy!

I will cast my vote for chucking the Package and booking Club Level!! Especially if this is likely your only trip to WDW -- what a way to do it! :thumbsup2

I stopped doing the Dining Plan ages ago..... it used to be a great deal, but not anymore. Do some research on restaurant menus and costs. There are some wonderful quick service and table service restaurants. With a little planning your family can eat well without blowing your whole budget! ;) ....the Club Level breakfast is wonderful...
....yes, ITA!

Many!;)

What a fab view! I requested near the lobby because my parents are mobility challenged for our trip. Hope we can see as much as you do! Enjoy!

I would make sure to stress on the request why you need close to elevator. It's a looooong walk to the end!!

LOVE THIS... I clicked and looked at your other pix as well... Beautiful... Where was your room?

Thanks! We're still here now, at Kidani, the rooms end at 7264, and we're not far from that end!! We've been at the very last room at the BWV, and I think this feels a little longer. For the pics from BWV (if that's what you were asking), I think the room number was 5341, we got the same exact room the last two times, and loved it. It was over the Screen Door shop on the top floor. The older AKL pics were from Jambo.

What Savannah is that?

So I've decided that the view really is very important to us. So, we booked Arusha View... Now to decide where. I was thinking Zebra Trail Lower Floor as my requests. Thoughts?

So EXCITED!!!!

Yes this is our savana of choice.

It's the Sunset Savanna at Kidani. :thumbsup2

After that pic, the giraffes showed up, too. It was incredible how many animals were all in the same area.

I think I will put a request in for that Savannah.

Well... our Waitlist Exchange cam through from RCI. Not my first choice but we do love Epcot resorts as well.... Anyway, we will now be at Boardwalk Villas 5/3-5/11 and then WBC 5/11-5/12. Disappointed to not be staying at AKL this trip, but happy our Exchange came through as it will save us a bundle!

We do still plan on driving over to AKL to do the Night Vision (personal request from DD and maybe some storytelling, etc.) Happy vacations everyone!!!

Thanks to all the AKL gurus! We decided to go with the Club Level room--now I'm even more excited. Just crossing my fingers and toes for a bunk bed room!

I never shipped a package ahead of time. I am staying at Kidani.
Does anyone know what the correct address is to ship to, how far in advance I should ship it and what info do I need to include on the box? Thanks in advance
!!!

First time staying at AKL in May... Visited in December and just fell in love with the resort! We are standard room, savannah view, Jambo. Any thoughts on what floor to request? We are definitely there for the animals/view. Thanks!

Better ask while all this coffee talk is still in everyones memory! I had been planning on bringing my own coffee to make sure we had enough, which was before I learned it was in these "pods". Before I start considering ordering some online hoping you fine folks can help answer this please? If we are staying DVC in Jambo house(renting points), can we order more coffee from mousekeeping if we run out or would that be an extra charge?

I know "Replenish coffee, sugar, and cream" is included in the service on the fourth day. And I know if we want an extra mousekeeping we need to pay for it, but just want some extra coffee. Normally theres only 2, maybe 4 cups worth of coffee provided in rooms(not sure about DVC though). 4 cups would only last 1-2 days for us. Just nice to have it in the room and not run down to the Mara each time.

Thanks all!

I have had stuff shipped to Jambo House before and I would assume it would be the same for Kidani. The address for Kidani is:

Disney's Animal Kingdom Villas - Kidani Village
3701 Osceola Pkwy
Lake Buena Vista, FL 32830

I have always made sure that my check in and check out dates are on the package and arranged for it to arrive a day or two before I got there.

Hi all - We are excited for our stay at AKL in May - I did my online check-in room requests and I just thought that I'd check with all of you if it is the best choice.

We are booked savannah view room - not Arusha view.

Requested:
Near Lobby
Kudu Trail View

Is there a "better" request to have submitted? Thanks so much for any suggestions you may have. We have a 3 year old so we are looking to make walking to the lobby and the pool as easy as possible. Plus a good view wouldn't hurt!

You are correct that you will only get replenishment on day 4 when renting points. However the DVC villas have a regular coffee pot, not the pod machines. I can't remember if they're 4 or 8-cup machines, but they use filters & regular ground coffee, so you can bring your own. You can request more in between, and technically there is a change for it, but last time I asked (and expected to pay) they dropped some off for free. It never showed up on my bill.

I can't seem to find it right now but somewhere there is a list of DVC Mousekeeping items that you can pay for in between days 1 & 4. There is a coffee pack that I think was around $5. If someone has a link to this can they please post?

Ok now that I'm thinking about it, it may not use filters & ground coffee, they may still use pods, but larger ones. I was in a 1 BR in December & a studio 3 weeks ago & for the life of me can't remember!!! Can someone clarify this please?
