....agree....:thumbsup2

Everything I have read said don't stay at akv if you don't get savannah view. Is that not true?? I would love to save money but don't want to be there and wish I had done savannah instead. We r going in September and someone said when it's that hot the animals aren't out as much. Any truth to that??

I will post on behalf of Kimmar (and thousands of others of us, I'm sure!) NOPE, NOPE, NOPE!!!

I was just looking over my list (yes, I keep a list of every date, resort and room #!!!). I have stayed at AKL/AKV 26 times!!! I have stayed every month - September is one of my favorites! I have had just about every "view" imaginable!! Even "standard view" rooms can be views of the Savannah (just not the choice views!). There are so many public viewing areas that a savannah view is absolutely not a necessity!

The animals are out all months and all hours (except for a brief period daily where they are brought into the barn).

Possibly the negative comments you have read are from people who had unrealistic expectations. :confused3

Completely agree :) AKL/AKV is our favorite. Beautiful Resort, If you are interested you should try it out.

.

so after talking to my DH, we have decided on Kidani one bedroom! now to just decide on view…this is our first week long onsite stay and probably our last for a long time (DH wants to go to other places before returning again :(

should I do savannah or chance a standard? the first half we are staying BLT and standard view hopefully as we won't be in the room that much there but AKV we hope to relax and enjoy the property more so not sure if we will be in the room more or just out exploring?!?!

....personally, I'd start off with a std room...are you DVC members, using your points?

....ah.....well, go with your gut....do whatever you can afford....I think a std room at Kidani is not as bad as a std room at Jambo, but that's just my opinion...(and not that they are really 'bad' per se anyhoo)

Thanks. Just debating if it's worth the difference if we aren't in the room a lot.

I'm chiming in again!! :rolleyes1 If there's a large price difference, go with Standard -- think of all the $$$$ you're saving! Sure, it's awesome to look out your balcony and see animals, but believe me, I'd rather have the extra money in my pocket! :thumbsup2

You're planning to be out in the common areas of the resort, enjoying the many things it has to offer -- you'll do fine with a standard view! ;) And don't forget, you have 2 resorts to explore and experience! (Kidani & Jambo!) :goodvibes

I just booked a Standard 1-bedroom in Kidani for part of our May trip! ;)

thanks. I just calculated it is 209 difference, I was contemplating value but not sure if thats a safe move??

$209 will buy quite a few groceries -- If it was my decision, I'd stick with "standard", but ultimately you have to do what you feel is best for your family. If you're only in the room first thing in the morning and later in the evening (especially after dark), you'd be wasting money on the Savannah View.

Let us know what you decide! :thumbsup2

...why am I not surprised....:confused3

:rolleyes1 :rotfl2:

That's what I was thinking too but I read a lot on here that the only way to stay at AKL/V is to do savannah view…I don't want to regret it when I get there?! augh…decisions.

I think you've already answered hour own question....You've stated that you won't be in your room all that much. Is it nice to wake up and step out in the balcony and see animals? Sure it is but how long is long? After that you'll probably be headed to pool area or parks....As others have stated , there are plenty of other spots to see animals , whether inside or outside.

I recently stayed in a value studiofor my FAM. Of 4. The amount of points/$$$ saved helped take care of other things. Such as food ,snacks, souvenirs.... That whole time there , we saw plenty of animals too..:thumbsup2 HTH.

BTW Kim. Did ya notice Daisy is getting closer to the end of the clock countdown. LoL

Any news on F & W for you guys...Are ya gonna rent if you go?

So, I have ready through some of the posts. But my question is, as far as a standard room goes is there any recommendation on a special request I can make, if any at all? From what I reading there are some "long" hallways. We have only every been in the lobby and Boma. So I have no idea on the layout of the resort. I don't even know where the standard rooms are located.

The best way to get what you want, is just ask!. If you don't want to be down a long hallway, just request "as close as possible to lobby". We've always had this honored here in a Standard.
