Believe it....I told myself I wasnt going to purchase the Chef Mickey picture...of course I did....we are Disney's best consumers..PARENTS:)

That's why solo/trips with friends are nice:) We can look at the pics and say...Oh thats nice....but rather spend the money on another prosecco....or...adult beverage:)

Truer words were never spoken, Sister!!! :lmao:

:lmao:
IT TASTES LIKE A HUGE ZEBRA DOME?? :faint:

Brook - What's the story about "the boot"? What happened? :flower3:

I am not entirely sure what happened! I think I aggravated an old injury somehow. I have been having foot pain for about a month and a half. Some days were so bad I could barely stand it. So, I finally went to the doctor and now I'm in this lovely boot for 3 weeks! However, if it means I'm able to walk without pain during our trip, I'm all for the boot! It makes my legs very sore; however, it's great workout for the rear! ;)

We do the chef mickey's package (the cheapest one they offer when we're there) every trip. Because we pre-order the Disney PhotoCD, and the Chef Mickey's photopackage comes WITH a photopass code, so we can add it to our CD.

:)

I read about 20-40 pages back someone had posted all the June activities from both Kidani and Jambo house. I was wondering if anyone had a JUly list or even if someone would be willing to post an August one if you are there in early August...we are heading down the 16th and would love to know what is possible for planning.
Thanks in Advance,
Amy:cheer2:

Hey Amy-I don't think they really change them that much between months-maybe seasonally-so you are probably pretty safe with July's list- I'm going to use it and I'm going to be there 2 days after you...:goodvibes

Oh I'm planning on enjoying adult beverages as well-you now when the kids have shaved ices from Japan-I'll have a slushie from France with a little extra kick...:rolleyes1

Oh I am a good enabler:)

Because Disney photo memories are the best:) And where else can you purchase and have this keepsake?

:rolleyes1How was that?

That works for me...:rotfl2:

Sometimes Google comes up with better results than the DISboard search engine. Here is a picture of a Zebra cake:

A bit later in the thread it is stated, that it tastes like a huge Zebra Dome! :goodvibes

Oh-thank you so much for this...tastes like a giant zebra dome hmmm...-now do I order what I think I'd like best or what I think he would like best...hmm...slight parental ethical dilemma...:rolleyes1

Oh, I forgot, it was for your DS? Perhaps you should also look at this description (posted 7/2008 on the cake thread) which someone got from AKL:

"The Zebra Cake is 6" round and 4" high and $40. Is is a vanilla cake
with an amarula mousse filling and glazed in white and dark chocolate to
make the zebra stripes. This is the only filling it comes with and that
is an alcoholic filling. The Mickey head cake is the same size as the
zebra cake and costs $48. Both cakes feed 8-10 people and are made here
at the resort in our bakery so it will just be noted that your son has a
peanut allergy and they will make sure that he will be able to enjoy the
cake as well. In room dining will supply the forks and plates for as
many people as you need when they deliver the cake. We do not do
anything different for breakfast in the concierge lounge but they might
do something at the restaurant if you have breakfast reservation for
that morning somewhere on property. Please
let us know what you would like to do for a cake and we can order it for
you. If you want something smaller you can get a 6" round cake for $21
that is either vanilla/vanilla or chocolate/chocolate that is smaller
than the other 2 cakes. It is made for 4-6 people."

Very chatty indeed. I just can't keep up with you guys.

So, remember when I said that when AP rates came out I would be on the phone? I had a meeting this morning and missed it at first. But, I made a tentative reservation with my AP for our December trip!!! :cool1:  Saved more than $900 for a pool view! Without the AP, we would not be able to afford it. As it is, they are about to price us out of the deluxe market.

Hi Everyone,

We changed our pin code reservcation to a AP rate today. It saved us over 200.00 after I added the deluxe dining to it. I am looking forward to our Nov/Dec trip to the Animal Kingdom Lodge. Thanks for all the great tips and information about the hotel. It really helped alot.

Yeah, I bought the Chef Mickey's picture too. :rolleyes1

Hmm, can't wait until my trip with my friends to sample several "adult beverages" that I've heard about! I'm currently trying to convince them that we need to stay 3 nights to take full advantage of all the Food and Wine Festival has to offer... :woohoo:

Hmmm...$40 you say...hmmm I've seen those and I am very seriously thinking about doing one...ok-this gives me one month to justify this expenditure...they really are very cute...don't you think...:confused3 Anyone willing to give me a good reason that will enable me to make this purchase>

Well, yes, it is very cute, and it's still up on my shelf even though our trip was a year and a half ago, and I have to say that everyone notices and comments on it. See, even though I can't believe I did it, I can still convince you to do it too! :lmao:

I saw that too! I am seriously considering changing 2 of my DVC nights at Kidani in December to a resort with the AP rate so that I can stay at a resort that I haven't been to before. I am trying to decide between one of the moderates (any one but CBR) or maybe really splurge on the Poly. If I do the Poly then I will probably change plans and not do the sunset safari to offset some of the cost.

Hello my fellow AKL enthusiasts. I'm hoping you might be able to answer a question for me. In August my family is participating in the sunrise safari for the first time. Is tax and gratuity for pizzafari included in the base price for the package. I'm filling my tipping envelopes at the moment and don't know what to do. If this was answered already; I'm sorry. Hopefully someone knows the answer. Thank you!!

Yes, everything is included in the price! When you check-in with the Lounge CM's that morning (they'll let you know what time), they will swipe your park tickets and charge your CC for the cost of the Safari. :thumbsup2 We've done it 4 times and I'm counting on doing it a 5th!! :cloud9:

The buffet breakfast after the safari is wonderful and the guides eat with the group and are eager to answer any questions you might have. :goodvibes

I didn't even know that was possible! Very cool!

[BTW ~ was your hair always that short??!??! :scratchin ]

At some point, I want to stay in all of the resorts, so I think your plan is great! I sort of thought about PO-R for this trip (we've stayed at CBR), but decided to go ahead and stay the entire time at AKL.

I too am looking forward to trying some adult beverages-I know there are several that sound gread over at Epcot...I remember reading somewhere way back on the old AKL thread that they used to have speciality cocktails at AKL-specific to the Lodge that they made and were very good but sadly they had been standardizing the drink menus...but apparently if you give them the secret handshake and tell them Kimmar send you -you can still get them...:thumbsup2

I've already decided that I have to get one of the Star Wars Photos with DS in in... (I kinda feel bad-we've been going through the movies and he's seen the first 2 and the Clone Wars cartoon...he thinks Anakin is the coolest-what's he going to think when he finds out Anakin becomes Darth Vader...:scared1:)

As much as I love AKL I think it is good to occasionally mix up resorts-when You've been together with the Disney love-it's good to shake things up a little to keep it fresh...:rolleyes1...just saying...

Could not get the AP discount for CL for our dates. :headache: Hoping to at least get a free dining code soon!

I hope you get it too...

I love reading about AKV, we are going in June and I can't wait a 2bd. We were suppose to go in Dec, but we decided to go to VB. :cool1::cool1:

I've been unsuccessful getting more than a AAA-rate for a CL room at AKL. It's very, very hard to get a code that applies to one of those rooms. We were looking for 4 days in Dec and I could get one one, then another one (of course, not attached to the first date). We ended up changing to July anyway, but even then I could not get a good code to apply. What I've been told is that there aren't many of those rooms left (after the DVC change), that they fill up fast at any price, and that it's really rare to catch one with a deal.

Good luck! I hope you get one!:)
