Laura-Thanks for the pictures of Yak & Yeti-it looks great-I love the atmosphere and the food looks good too....:thumbsup2- I like to think of the Animal Kingdom's restaurants as sort of belonging to the AKL too...so definately glad to have booked it and a breakfast at Tusker too- (I think if you love the AKL you probably love the Animal Kingdom too-it is such a beautifully themed park and with the addition of Everest to the other rides-a fun park too-we are going to catch the parade there too this time out-it is supposed to be really well done...

Elin-those pictures of the Outer Banks are really beautiful-I've heard that they are lovely-I'd love to get to Charleston and the Outer Banks sometime for a vaca-we could actually drive from outside of Philadelphia...instead of fly-we have never attempted the drive to Disney-not sure if my kids could handle it (or myself for that matter-I'd have to have way too many rest stop breaks...:confused3) but North Carolina I could definately handle...

But as for right now 61 days till AKL...:woohoo:

:cool2:

:thumbsup2 Yup! Zebra Trail near lobby would be your best bet for being near the pool and restaurants also. Animal views are usually a bit better farther out from the lobby, but I always request the "near lobby" location too! :goodvibes Congrats on making the switch from pool view! ;)

Thanks Laura (and you too Kimmar.) I'm still threatening to move back to a pool view if a cheap AP rate comes out and it makes a difference. I'd rather be close to everything than be out in one of the wings.

 I'm not sure WHY, but for years we avoided the AK parade. :confused3

In 2007 I finally saw it and LOVE it!!! I usually end up viewing it near Tusker House -- not a good idea if you want to leave the park right after the parade............... you won't believe the hoards of people heading to the exit!! (I'd suggest viewing it closer to the Tree of Life! ;))

Hi all,

Quick question...we just switched from a pool view (the only view we've ever had at AKL! :goodvibes) to a savannah view. I'd still like to be near the lobby and pool so I added a request of Zebra Trail near lobby - was that right or do I need to request something else?

Thanks!

Definitely try out a savanna view if you can -- it's wonderful! I put in a similar request even though it may affect our view. My DD and I really enjoyed watching the animals from our balcony in the early morning.

I had to share the most amazing cloud formation. I have never seen anything like it before!

thanks for all the nice comments! My DS and I are both very excited. And I am seriously considering doing a PTR, it will be so much fun planning this! :goodvibes

Brook, I was actually thinking about that we would not be able to meet up on that next trip :goodvibes But perhaps I will manage another DISmeet - Wendypooh should be there in the same time frame.

I hope you do a PTR, I would LOVE to read it! :thumbsup2

I hope you can do another DIS meet, they are so fun. Maybe we'll end up going again in January, who knows with us lately. :rotfl:

:cloud9: WOW. Soooo pretty!

Hi, everybody! We're back. There's way too much to catch up on from this thread!

I don't have much AKL news -- we had a fantastic breakfast at Boma, and I soaked up as much from Kidani as I could as we drove by in the bus. Walked through AKL and Zawadi (LOVE that shop!).

Trip was great! Hot, but great. I will TRY to get a report done (still waiting on December's report, lol!). But if not a report, I'll try some pictures.

I can't wait to see your pictures! :yay:

I haven't shared our news over here yet....you all know about our December stay at Kidani....BUT, we added a trip in September! We are staying at CSR this time! It's a quicker trip, 4 nights, 5 days. 77 days away!

OK, time for another AKL newbie stupid question:
Which bus stops at Typhoon Lagoon? And which stops at Blizzard Beach?

Thanks!

First, I understand that buses can be an issue at AKL, but we're staying there for the theme, so bus issues aren't a deal-breaker. However, a post on another thread has me wondering.....Do the lines at the parks tend to be better managed for Deluxe properties than Values? We stay at a timeshare usually when we visit Orlando, but we've done All-Star Sports in the past and found that the lines to leave the parks (esp. at closing time)were terribly long and time-consuming. Do they send buses more frequently to take Deluxe guests back to the hotels than they do for Values? And is it really a major issue that there's no queue for buses at AKL (Jambo)? My family will get grumpy if people regulary push into/ahead of us. Sorry if this has been discussed before- this thread is just too long to catch up on every page! I've enjoyed what I've read, though! :cool2:

OK, so at first I thought your "news" was going to be something about a brother or sister for Henry!! :rotfl2:

Then I see it's about adding another WDW trip!

I do believe you have joined the ranks of those of us who are obsessed with Disney!! :rotfl:

No question about AKL/AKV is a stupid question; always feel free to ask away! :thumbsup2

Downtown Disney bus to TL; Hollywood Studios bus to BB.

I don't believe buses are any more frequent at the deluxes. They're supposed to be on a 20 minute schedule during peak times; and at closing time, they try to gauge the crowds returning to each resort and get buses there as quickly as they can to accommodate the crowds.

I've never found the "no queue" at Jambo or Kidani to be a problem. Yes, there will occasionally be the pushers, but for the most part, people are respectful. :goodvibes

Thanks! Are the DTD buses as infrequent as I've read? We really prefer TL, but not if it's going to take us forever to get back to the resort!

Thanks!

Just got back from our first time visit to AKL. We had a wonderful time, but need a vacation from our vacation. AKL is a beautiful hotel, and I'm glad we chose to stay there. :)

I don't think any of the busses were that infrequent to any of the stops. It just seems to take awhile to get to wherever you are going. Personally that is one of the reasons I would maybe stay somewhere else next time.

I had good and bad luck with DTD buses, so I would not say that they are generally bad! But the drive there is a bit far. However, the same applied for the drive from the Poly to DTD. I think most resorts are close to something in WDW and far from other things. So it equals out! :goodvibes

My sister Katharina and I have booked our flights today (the most important thing as this is one of the biggest cost factors)!!!! :cool1::cool1::cool1:

We will be at WDW from 1/27 to 2/5 and will celebrate Katharina's 35th birthday on 2/3!!:banana::banana:

Everything else is still very much undecided, but if you are intersted, you are welcome to read along in my PTR: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2208016

It's my favourite time, too. :goodvibes Would be lovely to see you, if you happen to be at WDW at our favourite time!!

Thanks for the comments on our names! I actually picked my sister's name when I was three. I had a friend from Greece at nursery school called Katharina and loved that name. My parents agreed that it was a good name for the new baby! :goodvibes

You had great taste, even as a 3 year old! :)

 Late January/early February is definitely on my "wish list"! :goodvibes
