I came across a great map made by LisaS showing the locations of all the DVC units in Jambo House. Since I love maps and enjoy playing around with them, I superimposed her map on an overhead view of AKL:

Hopefully it will help give a better sense of what the views are like from the various units. BTW, the link to the original map is:

Fantastic!! I think this will really help people get a better feeling for the views from the different booking categories. Well done!

Thanks so much. This is just what I was needing. Any suggestions for a 2BR Standard View reservation in May. I would love building 53.

Edited: Sorry, I posted on the wrong thread. I've never done that before!

standard views are only the swimming pool - or at least a part of it (and roof)

the value views could be savannah, swimming or parking lot - you won't know until you arrive and check in - which it will be.

have a swimming pool view standard, then one value - loved them both - they are in a great place.

you don't have to walk far to get to anything.

with a savannah view it could be a long walk...

So does the map mean none of the standard views have a chance to get a savannah view?
Correct. AKV has two defined views: standard view (pool, garden or parking lot) and savanna view (just what it says). All rooms in the "Standard View" room category have a standard view. In Jambo House, all of the Standard View rooms face the pool though your view may be partially blocked by trees. In Kidani, the view will be pool, garden or parking lot/roadway.

Value rooms have either a standard view (pool, trees or parking lot) or a savanna view.

Standard View rooms have a standard view (pool/trees in Jambo House, pool, garden or parking lot/roadway in Kidani).

Savanna View rooms have a savanna view.

Concierge rooms have either a standard view (pool) or a savanna view.

We had a value studio last month that faced the pool. So upon check-in the girl says "this will be a pool view".:rotfl:

I took pictures from all directions and have yet to find the "pool view" I expected! I know the value units are a crap shoot on what you get...but now I know that just because a unit faces the pool doesn't mean much and I think it's a bit misleading to call it a "pool view"!:rolleyes1

Ever since I first read that a standard view is a view of a pool, garden or parking lot I've been wondering where these garden views are located. I think you just found one!

Do you remember your room # ?

Ummm...I think it was something like 5028 maybe?! When you look at that map I think we were in # 48 'cuz when we were coming & going to the bus stop we usually used the stairs which dumped right out onto the sidewalk just above the bus stop. MUCH faster & closer than trying to back up to the lobby and then walking down.
