We have resv's for June. What are the chances that Club services (food/drinks) will be available? If they're not, do we still stay in those rooms? If so, will there be a reduction of points?

Also, do the Club 1 bedrooms have a sleep chair, or just the sofa bed?

Thanks!

No idea if it will be open or not but if not then you get refunded the difference between club and standard.

Just realized that if we're refunded points, it will be past our banking deadline. So unless an exception is made, we won't be able to take advantage of those refunded points.

I think chances of club level being open are near zero. Club won't open until Jambo hotel opens. There is no date for that planned and as the largest deluxe still closed I feel like it will be one of the last to reopen.

Current practice for those with club level is to charge as standard view and reimburse extra points if club level still out of operation when vacation time comes, but that does not mean you can then bank the extra points, which still depends on whether you are within the banking window.

Personal view is that you must make decision based on the known current conditions and not on the hope of the possibility that club level and Jambo will be up and running by June.

This is a special graduation trip for 2 of our grandsons. We thought they would enjoy the special club area and free drinks/food offered. We have not stayed at AKV since they were little. I suppose we'll need to come up with a plan B. These are Sept UY points, and for sure we won't be able to use the refunded adjusted points before they expire. While we still have some time before our banking deadline, I'm worried about availability for other options. I'm not sure we would want to stay at either AKV resort without a QS food location. Now to come up with another idea.

Thanks for the info and advice given.

We just had a 1 bedroom club level for 2 weeks in Nov. We requested the sunset safari side (which I would recommend over the pool side). It is doubtful that this will be open in June. It will really depend on the opening of the food service and the hotel. I can say it is darned inconvenient to not have a single food service location available. There is literally no chance to get anything from Kidani to Jambo and up to your room & have it remain warm if you are using the shuttle. Also, the pool bar is a very limited menu but only on weekends. This may improve in June.

We were notified that we would receive a refund of points over what a standard 1 bedroom would cost. It was quite a few added points. That was handled quite well.

The 1 bedroom club level has a foldout couch and a foldout chair. We had 5 adults staying for a few days. Club level is the only 1 bedroom that has the extra foldout chair according to the room charts.

We have booked a return in May and are really hoping that they open up the Mara at least. It would be nice if they also opened the gift shop too.

Here's hoping!

All view/location categories except for the Values in Jambo House have the single sleeper chair.

My vote would be BWV or BCV in a 2BR
  • Walk to HS (Star Wars, ROR, TOT are possibly geared at them)
  • With Park Hopper - Epcot right there (great for them to feel a little freedom getting their own food for dinner and then meeting up so you can all eat together)
  • Lower priced 2BR possibly than a 1BR Club Level which would give them their own dedicated area of the resort

Do all of the Club level rooms have Savanna view?
There are 5 2-bedroom lock-offs that make up the DVC Portion of Club Level at AKV. Three of those overlook an alcove of the Sunset Savanna while the remaining two overlook to Uzima Pool.

The roof hang obstructs a good view of the savanna. The 6th floor villas used to be the club level smoking optional rooms for AKL before they became DVC villas. So the view isn't that good.

For how long are the refunded points usable? I am staying next week on points that would expire at the end of January 2021 if not used. Will my refunded points be usable past January 2021?

unlikely but YMMV

I'd expect they'll be returned to the status they were when you booked.

Sorry it has taken me so long to get back. But I was told by a CM at Member Services that these were bankable points so they would be good until my 2022 use year. I have used most of them for a trip in May. I am banking the rest for 2022
