AKL- how bad is the transportation

We were at AKL in July (busy time of year) We had no problems with the buses. Always regular and never had to stand.

Just came back from BWV yesterday (slower time of year) and found the bus transportation lacking. Had to wait long periods for certain buses and they tended to be crowded as some routes are shared with BC/YC, Swan and Dolphin.

AKL transportation is excellent.

What they said. Bus transportation is wonderful. I wonder where the idea that transportation to/from AKL is a problem. I have heard many more complaints from EVERY other resort than I ever have from AKL guests.

Transportation during both our May and October trips was fantastic!! We never waited more than a couple of minutes for a bus at the lodge and only waited once at MK for any length of time (all other resorts appeared to be waiting then, too). We did not have a car during our October visit and did not miss it. During our May trip, our car helped us get to meals at other resorts more quickly.

We stayed there July 04, and the bus service was excellent.

We stayed at AKL in September '02 and the bus service was amazing. Honestly when we stayed at WL this past year the only park we got to faster than we had at AKL was MK. Because the buses at AKL are dedicated to that resort it makes things go faster.

I think the transportation is great! Never had to wait more than 5-10 minutes. Sure it "isolated" but the service well make up for it :goodvibes Have a great trip. We'll be @ AKL again May 2006 :cheer2:

Stayed there May 2005 and the service was pretty good. On two occasions we waited for a bus to Epcot while several came and went for the other resorts. Total wait time was only 20 mins or so, but it was odd that so many came one after another for the other parks. Guess if we were going to any other resort we wouldn't have had a problem!

Other than those two very minor issues - great resort, great time!

Well I was going to stay out of this since everyone in here seems to think the AKL transportation is the best but the location and the transportation is the only issue I have with the AKL. Other wise I think it is one of the best resorts in WDW. Waiting for a bus from the AKL did not seem to take very long but on both stays at the AKL we commented on how we had to wait for a but from a park to the AKL while we would see busses for other resorts come more than once.

I think the other reason I am not thrilled with the transportation at the AKL is because there is only one form of transportation. I love the resorts that have multiple forms of transportation but this is just my observation and my opinion which I see many don’t agree with.

I think that is a valid point. It is nice to have options with your transportation. You would not believe how creative our routes got from WL to avoid buses (just because we could, we are odd like that!), and to satisfy my son's love of the monorail.

We have stayed at AKL twice and the bus transportation is mostly very good. However, we did have a couple of issues. We did wait about 30 minutes for a bus to DTD and Typhoon Lagoon. Also, one late afternoon, we waited and waited for a bus to MK but it did not come. Most guests waiting, including us, took a bus to Epcot and then the monorail to MK. We also waited about 40 minutes for a bus to take us from AK back to AKL in the late afternoon. The crowd in the line was getting ugly when the bus finally came. We should have made a parade and hoofed it back! (Just Kidding!) Other than that, the buses have been good. We will be staying at AKL again next summer. Can't wait!

We were there in June and never had a problem with transportation. the longest we waited was 20 minutes and that's because the bus didn't have air conditioning and the driver took it back to the garage. (At least that's the story we got) Otherwise we waited maybe 5 minutes, most of the time the bus was all ready there.

There in July - a very, very busy time of year - and hardly ever waited more than 10 minutes for anything.

akl is our favorite resort, were returning on november 13th, yeah :goodvibes & weve havent encountered any problem with the transportation, weve had more problems at the grand floridian sharing with the poly & the multi stop caribbean beach. akl is great all around!

We have been back for a week now from the Lodge & we thought the bussing was amazing . we have stayed at Riverside & Pop before & we thought there bussing was good but Animal is our best so far we had no long waits for our whole time one nite after spectro the driver even made it back to the lodge in 15mins . We ended up on a bus from blizzard with people from Wilderness Lodge who said there bussing was bad.
