AKL-GV kidani standard view

They turned two of the Kidani GVs into standard view GVs. They are both at the end of the north (longest) wing and, as it was explained to me, the reason they did it is that, though they have savanna view, they are near gate where animals are brought in and out and other than that activity at different times in the day, the animals tend not to be where those rooms are during the day.

I was told by a CM that there is a GV at Kidani that faces the Pembe Savanna and that it is one of the reclassified GVs. That would make sense since Pembe is quite small and has an irregular shape that affects the view from some rooms. If I paid full (points) price for a GV and was facing Pembe I would be disappointed.

ETA: I just checked my notes and there are actually 2 GVs that face Pembe. One of them faces the narrowest part of Pembe (it might be as narrow as 50-100 feet deep at that point) so the view from that GV would be of the back of a steep hill. The other Pembe GV would have a slightly better view because it is angled toward a wider part of Pembe. You can see this on this satellite view if you zoom in far enough. You can spot the GVs by the "hood" over the balcony. The GV on the left faces the narrowest part of Pembe so I would expect that one to be classified as "Standard View".

Well - take special note: For once Disney decreased the price of a view!

The downside is, to make things balance out resort wide for this change and the changes they made to some Sav. View rooms to make them Std View they increased the cost of Sav View 1BRs at AKV across the board. Those of us who will probably never book a GV (Std View or otherwise) and almost always book a Sav. View 1BR are on the losing end of this change.

DVC is a double-edged sword in that regard.
