Hi Everyone. Further down this thread I read where Expedia had discounted rooms for late August and decided to check my dates. We are staying at POP for free dining four nights 8/26-8/30 but I chose to add a night (room only, no free dining available) because the airfare a day later was much cheaper. Only room available was preferred so we have to change rooms for the one night.

AKL has a room on Expedia for $159 ($180w/), I'm paying $120 for POP. Is there any reason I shouldn't change to AKL? Will Disney move my luggage from POP to AKL while we are at the parks? Will we have any problem with ME? I don't believe there is a cancellation fee for room only at this time.

Thanks for your help. Brenda

PS: There's nothing available at Boma that night and I'd really like to eat there if we are staying at AKL so if anyone has a cancellation, I'd love it!

That's a great rate for AKL. I would go for it.
I can't imagine a problem with ME. Just make sure they are aware of your changes.
I have not changed resorts during a stay. but sure others will tell you it works fine.

We're staying 6 nights in Sept for FD and I also extended my trip one more day and added a room only at AKL. I booked mine directly with Disney with code DDI for $149 ($168 w/tax). They had Savanah view for +$73. Disney will refund you 100% if you cancel up to 5 days before your date. I orginally booked another night at ASsp because Disney was only showing club level at AKL. A week later I was able to cancel ASsp and rebook an AKL standard view room. I'm still considering changing to WL if anything opens up there for the same price. I booked the ME to return us to MCO at that time and simply canceled the original ME departure I had the date before. The ME is still picking us up on our arrival for our package.

I understand that when you check out of your first resort you leave your luggage with bell services and tell them you are moving to AKL and they will transfer all of your stuff. You can also take a cab over if you want to move it yourself. I haven't told my kids that we're staying an extra night, so I'll just check out of ASsp and leave them the luggage. The boys think we have a couple of hours in the park before our evening flight home. Then we'll hop on the AKL bus (they won't even pay attention to what bus we get on) and check into the new resort. Surprise.

Expedia I think charges a booking fee. I'm not positive. But they do charge a $25 penalty for any changes/cancellations. If you use Expedia they are your "agent" and any changes have to be done through them. I'd suggest you just book directly with Disney for a 1 night room only. Then you can make any and all changes to it you want yourself and without a penalty.

Thanks Order66: We've done a split stay before and I was fairly certain that our bags were delivered to the second resort by Disney but I wanted to be reassured:) I've gone ahead and booked the AKL for our last night but before I did that I checked various other websites for prices. Only Expedia has the $159 pool view room. The only fees were taxes $21 but I did see that they have a $25 cancellation fee.

Disney's site is $235 w/$30 taxes for a total of $86 more/night. We never thought we'd stay at AKL because I've never seen it at this price. Maybe my not getting FD was a blessing in disguise. Best of all, my "proposed itinerary":thumbsup2 has us at AK on Saturday until 4 with no plans that night or before our ME pick-up around noon on Sunday. The fact that we normally do commando park days was another reason to not spend the $$$ on a deluxe but this just works out great, we'll have both that night and the next morning to use the resort amenities ~~ now if I could only get Boma reservations!

Thanks for your insight. Brenda
