We are leaving the 16th for our first trip to AKL. We have a Deluxe Sav. View booked. Anyone back recently with that type of room booked??? Any hints on the trails to ask for etc??? I will take any info I can get my hands on. My log is getting full from info I have goten off the boards but I can always use more!!!!!

Thanks in advance!!

Laura

PS It's DD 13th birthday...any hints on what to within the AKL???

After having walked the entire resort (many times over because there is so much to see!) we were very happy that we were in Zebra trail because it put us closer to the pool, arcade, and the food court than Kudu trail.

I thought I read somewhere that all the deluxe rooms were on the fifth floor. If that's true, you may not have to worry about that request.

Don't miss the story teller at the fire pit outside in the early evening. The African art throughout the resort, the artist in the gift shop, breakfast on your balcony watching the animals, evenings on your balcony watching the animals, sitting on one of the public verandas just taking it all it. It is a wonderful resort to just kick back and relax.

AKL is our favorite resort!

Thanks for the quick reply and tips soccermom!!! I just added them to my log- it's also nice to hear you enjoyed the resort so much!!!

When you check in, you will be given a packet of info as to what there is to do as far as organised activities. While my nephews (10 and 13) did not wish to do any of them, they we all gung ho for the Hidden Mickey hunt. It took us quite some time to find them all, and that we with hints from a CM in the gift shop. Let the front desk know it's your son's BD, he may get a call from Goofy. What my nephews liked the best, that didn't cost, was the pool. We let them go almost every day, either together or with us (Sister and me). And they both loved the mac and cheese at Mara.

I loved loved loved this resort, and hope to go back one day. Have a magical trip.

See if they're still doing the Culinary Tour, where you tour the restaurants and have some food samples. They were doing that every day starting at 4 PM or so.

What excellent tips!! Thank you soooo much!!! I have to admit that I was't very excited about this resort but now I can't wait!!!
I wish I was leaving today!!!!!

Thanks again!!!

We loved our AKL visit!!

Very friendly cm's here! Be sure to ask the savannah cm guides any questions about the animals you have or simply about where they are from. We met some intresting cm's from all over the world right there on the savannah.

Great resort activities: You'll get a resort activity sheet at check-in make sure to look it over and join in a few that sound interesting.

Walk, walk and walk around some more: There are several animal observation areas around the hotel and more than one savannah area. The animals congregate at different times in different areas and its fun to see all the areas. Not to mention there is interesting African artwork, photographs, crafts, clothes all around the hotel that is fun to see.

Request Zebra Trail for minimal walking. We loved being on this trail as it was so convenient to the pool, restaurants, arcade, laundry, playground and outdoor savannah overlooks.

Enjoy your stay. AKL was wonderful! :D

Enjoy your trip to AKL!!! It is our favorite resort and can't wait to stay there next year before our Magical Cruise!!!

One of our favorite things to do was to view the animals at night through the Night Vision Binoculars! It was really, really cool!!!

Try to use the hot tub early in the AM.
I was able to see giraffes munching on leaves while sitting in there! It was so cool.

It is a beautiful resort. Have a great time!

BTW, I am from Cranberry Twp also!! I couldn't believe it when I saw your signature!

disneydreamer- did you see very much with the night vision?? I was thinking about taking them but DH doesn't think we would see much and I would love to prove him wrong!!!

Don't miss dining at Boma. They have a great breakfast buffet and dinner as well. Lots of interesting choices.
