Maybe so, or the fact that Cont. drawings did not go over big either. Maybe they have gone back to the drawing board on it.

Maybe we need to start a new thread, what should the Contemporary DVC look like.

Personally I think they were concerned over what the heck they were going to do with parking and all those folks that park over there and sneak into the park. They knew DVC members would not put up with it.

Of course, and I am sure cost was a large factor. At this point who knows, I just know that rehab is back on schedule for the North Wing. So anything going in over there for DVC will probably not happen for at least 5 years.

In absence of an offical annoucement -- that's certainly possible...however it could happen sooner too!

Well, I sort of wish it were the Contemporary. I have no interest in buying there, but the AK would be very tempting! Wait ... I haven't even closed on my FIRST contract, what am I thinking ... !

Oh I know for a fact that DVC going in there was under serious consideration and then suddenly it wasn't and AKL was the hot topic. All I know for sure at this point is the rooms at the North Wing are being done as regular rooms at this time not DVC. Not sure what changed the focus from the Contemporary to AKL but it definitely changed.

Did they completely close the South Wing to rehab it, I thought they did it a section at a time?

Thanks for the news Sammie. Wonder what tipped the scales?? Perhaps it just wasn't coming together as quickly as they needed it to happen and they need a CR DVC to be done right.

They did close a section (half?) of the south wing at a time to rehab. Some people reported lovely constrution views during the rehab.

Just when I thought I was safe...my beloved AKL???? I have all these cool plans for all my cool points and now THIS!!!!!

I informed hubby that if this is true all three resorts leave (cannot believe I am saying this) and I will be living at AKL

"Disney Vacation Club rumors take another left turn

Rumors indicating that the Contemporary Resort's North Garden Wing could be completely rebuilt as Disney Vacation Club lodgings are still strong, but we're now hearing that the next DVC resort to be announced will be at the Animal Kingdom Lodge. The Contemporary DVC building will reportedly not be started until after the first DVC resort is built in California. The California resort would immediately follow the Animal Kingdom Lodge resort. A preview center for the Animal Kingdom Lodge DVC resort is being set up in the theater at the Saratoga Springs Resort."

This is big news! Everyone seemed to think that the next DVC resort would be Contemporary villas. Animal Kingdom villas must be true if if a preview center is being set up at SSR. Well, October 1 has come and gone, and still no announcement. Maybe on the member cruise.....?

I am excited about the AKL DVC, I have only stayed there one night and thought it was heaven. The views, the lobby, the restaurants, the gift shop even, there is just the best theming there on property in my opinion. I own at the BWV but want to do an add-on, and this would fit the bill perfectly.

lol...I keep saying that the next DVC will be in DL (basing this on my recent visit there...the "Secret" signs were absolutely EVERYWHERE)...but the rumors are certainly not in my favor.

I would love VAKL or CRV over DL (sorry, west-coasters!), but like others, just want to know for sure!

I thought they did it in stages, and did not close the entire wing, but SpiceyCat said they closed the complete building, I truly don't remember.

I just know I checked about the possibility of requesting the North Wing in the next couple of months and was told they would be rehabbing the rooms with the new decor.

Could it also be possible due to zoning or environmental reasons the noth wing of the Contemporary can't be razed and rebuilt? Just a thought....
