Greetings,

I'm going to be travelling with a group of 6 this December to WDW and we all are looking forward to a special birthday dinner at AKL - probably Boma - on our last night.

We are staying off site but were wondering if it's possible to go and do the night gog animal viewing and/or story telling if you are not a resort guest.

Cheers

Welcome to the Dis and glad you found us as I see this is your first post..
Hopefully someone will answer this for you, I do believe that you can go outside the resort and there is a viewing area....not sure how much is able to viewed from there.

Welcome to The DIS!

The first thing you must do is get a reservation for dinner as soon as possible. While at the AKL, you can enjoy any of the activities, such as using the night vision goggles and listening to stories by the outside firepit.

I know from first hand experience that you can do the storytelling even if you're not a guest. The people next to me when I did the storytelling were talking about transportation back to Pop afterwards. That's where they were staying, they said. So I guess that's really second hand experience! And this week I'm hoping to do the Culinary tour even though I'm not staying at AKL.

Yes, you can participate in the activities while you are there. The night vision is awesome, just go out to the pool and look for the sign pointing you in the right direction. If it is still light out while you are there, just walk out towards the playground and you'll be able to see the animals from there. There are several viewing locations throughout the resort. The culinary tour is a very nice treat too!

Thanks for the info and the welcome.

I've been perusing this board for about 8 months now and didn't even realize that I hadn't posted - not much need to when so many people have shared such detailed info! :-D

Cheers V :genie:

You can read all about Boma & the awesome night vision experience on my trippie. AKL is just the most wonderful place & I would leave yourselves plenty of time to have a good look around. Trouble is, once you have been there, you just never want to leave!1
