I was wondering how much damage was done at the AKL? did that tree that is high up on the rocks make it, how are the savanna's any damage, any damage to the hotel it self roof windows etc. ANYONE!!!!
THANKS!!!
We were there through the storm. AKL handled the whole situation very well. As far as damage, other than having to clean the pool, pick up tree and shrub debris and some wet rugs at the doorways throughout the hotel, I really didn't notice too much. They did keep the animals off of Arusha Savanna the following day. During the storm they kept people out of the lobby (we noticed a few leaks around some of the joints of the big window overlooking Arusha Rock) and requested we remain in our rooms and eat our free box dinners.

We didn't notice any tape on the big lobby windows the next day but I am sure they have since resealed them. Prior to the heart of the storm actually hitting, AKL had African musicians playing , dancing and singing in the lobby and we also saw Goofy. They set up a tv in the lobby with the weather channel and used memos under the doors and voice mail to keep guests informed. Since the parks closed at 1:00 they had to keep everyone entertained. They also rearranged the schedule of the numerous hotel activities. Once they realized that it would not be safe to serve dinner in the restaurants (too many windows), they provided free box dinnes to all guests. We had a choice of a ham or turkey sandwich, a fruit, chips, soda and soup. After getting the dinners we were essentially under "lock down" in our rooms. They had 3 in room channels playing Brother Bear, Monsters Inc. and Finding Nemo continuously throughout the night. We got the all clear to leave the rooms at about midnight. They really handled the whole situation very well.
