Hi all

I thought you might like to know that according to the travel agent we're using for our upcoming trip in September, there is no work going on at AKL. :rotfl2:

I live in the UK and read on this fantastic bulletin board about the work so rang them up to check what likely impact we could expect. They knew nothing about it and eventually told me that if Disney hadn't told them then officially they wouldn't acknowledge it or update their own systems!

I mentioned that it was all over a few sites and that the hotel reception had confirmed it to me but that apparently still means it isn't happening as Disney didn't tell them!

Why are all you folks on here making up these stories? ;)

Then why do they have all those fences up and construction equipment in the parking lot and the signs that say something about pardon our progress while we are adding to DVC :lmao: . I think I have pictures of some of the area from June, but I can't post pics. Some people :confused3

But it says that construction is going on until 2009!
This is from INTERCOT.com

Animal Kingdom Villas Construction; 03/05/07 - 04/30/09.
The construction will occur in phases with an anticipated completion date of Spring 2009. During this time, guests will hear and/or see construction staff and equipment inside the resort as well as in the external areas of the property during the daytime hours.

Maybe you should ask Disney Guest Relations in an email and forward the reply to your travel agent. :teeth:

Hopefully I'm going to do better than that...

I'm going to mail their customer services and copy in the association that oversees British travel agents: see if I can't stir something up

Just noticed your countdown ticker.....See Ya There!

FWIW, I stayed at AKL last week, and I found the construction to be no where near as bad as expected. With the exception of the black drapes on the top floor in the lobby, I may not have known there was construction if I wasnt on Dis boards:) I heard a saw a couple times at the pool, and saw people painting on the balconies, but that is basically it....

I agree that your travel agent should be a little beter informed, being a travel agent myself specializing in Disney;)

When Is your trip in Sept. I will be there 9/8-9/15 and was told by the hotel front desk that construction in the existing AKL was not going on, but cunstruction of the Villias was on going. But would not impact Guests other then parking.

Hi

We're arriving on 20 Sep for 2 weeks.

There seems a very confusing picture of what is going on and when! :headache: :scared:

Just thought I'd put my 2 cents in and tell you what I was told by a woman at the lodge. It goes like this.....
Construction is going on, inside and outside. The 5th and 6th floors are being converted to the vacation villas, which she told me are "almost" done on the Zebra trail, but are started on Kudu trail. (apparently they are doing a wing at a time?) That is the reason that guests with savannah views have been moved to other resorts. There is also construction to build new animal bldgs at the end of the Kudu trail.
So I guess you can take that with a grain of salt, since everone seems to get a different story.

Well, I can say this for sure, the buses were mostly empty the past two weeks. You might see two families on them. We were staying for part of our visit at CSR, and the little store there was always stuffed full of people, and running out of food. One day I decided to transfer to the animal lodge bus, and found their store. It was stocked to the top! DH was happy when I brought home fresh, wonderful Entemmans cookies.

One of these days I plan to stay at AK. That place rocks!

Your TA should be visiting the Disney Travel Agent website for the latest info on construction at the resorts.

Can you imagine all the families who've saved up for their trip of a lifetime and arrive in the AKL when it's all torn up.... I can't even imagine.

Visited AKL yesterday and the noise was bad. I spoke with the bartender and he said they anyone who has gotten moved should count their blessings. It is pretty bad all day with the jack hammers and he is a few floors down from it.

The Poly is nice but only at the price I paid certainly not for rack rate.

ughh.. this is worrying me.
I don't understand why I didn't get the call to move. I've heard people complain about noise, tarps up, etc...
I don't want to stay there if it's going ot be like that :confused3
I got 40% off code so that's why I'm staying there, but I'd much rather be transfered to Poly of WL.

You haven't gotton a call to move, because your trip is a month away, and they are supposed to be finished with the inside construction by then. I on the other hand check in a week from today. I have heard from others that there isn't that much noise. I will know soon enough.
