akl concierge

should i request any particular room or floor for the akl concierge level?? any more tips or advice for the trip with concierge level room??

I prefer the 5th floor - Zebra trail - the room next to the VP suite. You'll have to walk to the elevator and ride it up to the 6th floor where the lounge is, but I think the view is better from the 5th floor.

I recommend the 5th floor also. We had a great room near the elevator that goes down to the pool. It was Zebra trail, too.

VAGal - we were in that same room a couple of days ago and I thoght it was great! Good views and a nice room. My sister wanted to be on the sixth floor, and I was telling her we probably had a better view rom our room. What are the rooms on the sixth floor like? what are their views?

Apparently (this is second hand info as we stayed on 5th floor) the roof-line comes down about 1/3 of the way on the 6th floor balcony - meaning if you are standing up on your 6th floor balcony you would see roof. Also, people have mentioned that being that high up seems really removed from the animals. From the 5th to 6th floor there is also a gated stairway to get to the lounge - only about 6 or 8 stairs. When we stayed we used the stairway most often to get up to the 6th floor as we were on Kudu Trail. Kudu is OK, but I think Zebra is a bit better. In either case, it's a great place!!!!!!!!

Funny story about this. The valet checking us in tried to put us in the VP suite. He just couldn't figure out why the key wasn't working until I looked around to find a room number and could not. It was the door to the bedroom of the VP suite and it was occupied. I could only imagine what the folks were thinking. I told him if we wanted to boot them out, I would be delighted to stay in that suite. We had the same fellow this past summer and we laughed at the story again. I won't name him because he is a great CM with a sense of humor. He took it all in stride and would go out of his way to accommodate us. I was blessed with this room location because of an old DIS friend suggested it to IPO for me. They wanted to put me in another location and I don't think I would've liked it nearly as much. I'm glad she was looking out for me and was good friends with the folks in IPO.


I've not been in the rooms on the 6th floor, but I hear it was too far from the animals and the roof lines could be an obstruction. You feel a little closer to the savannah on the 5th floor.
