AKL Concierge?

Is there an AKL concierge level for DVC? IF so, do you know how many points per weeknight?

There are only 5 two bedroom lockoffs (which can be split into studios and 1 bedrooms). So they can be difficult to get.

Dumb question: Are those five units open to anyone? Our 11-month window opens in a few days, and I read on the Resorts board that someone already has a December 2010 booking. I know they go fast, so I'm worried I won't be able to book one.

Any DVC member with AKV points booking at the 11 month + 7 days.

You just need to make sure you call member services at 9am sharp and book right at 11 months out as the rooms go fast.

We stayed there last month from 12/4 - 12/7. Called at 11 months, 9 AM and while on the phone booking the reservation, lost 2 of the 3 nights to another member. Wait list finally came through 45 days before our vacation.

Yes Concierge is hard to book, but everyone should stay there at least once.

Awesome! We are planning to stay at AKL for three days after the podcast cruise and thought we'd try to book CL. I'll be on the phone right at 9:00!

We are wait listed on 12/09/10. I got the rest of the days by calling right at 9am so hopefully that one will come through.

Last year I called on the first day at 9 AM and had a waitlist for 9 months. Someone must have decided at the very last minute that they could not go. I did get my first night, but 9 months. I would call periodically just to make sure that the waitlist was active. It was, and it did work! I do agree with a previous poster, all AKV owners should stay there at least once. I have been able to secure it twice, but I am giving it a rest for a while. Give others a chance.

As I mentioned above, we have a studio booked from Dec 10-17th. The posting on the resorts board could also have referred to a non-DVC villa concierge room at AKL. All the DVC rooms are on the 6th floor but there are other concierge rooms available to any guest also. Anyone can book the DVC rooms if they're still available closer to the travel dates- somehow I don't see that happening as they'd be taken by members.---Kathy

I'm hoping to book a studio from December 16-18, but it looks like two of those days are already booked. Hopefully, the other four studios are still open!

Keep in mind that if someone books a 2BR lockoff, that takes away one of the studios so you are also competing against anyone booking a 2BR.

I hope you get it too. I only took one of the studios for two of your days so I hope you get the week you are looking for too! I was told I got the last studio for the 10th/11th but that there were still some left for the other days, albeit always limited. Be sure to call right at 11 months/7 days. It seems to be best to book with your trip beginning on a Friday. We had actually wanted to check in on the 9th but Thursday wasn't available so I had to call back the next day. I'll bet MS gets used to those 9 am calls for all the HTF ressies.---Kathy

We have stayed in a Concierge Studio the last 2 years in a row and LOVE it.

Despite people complaining about the changes/views, etc. It is totally worth it if you can book it.

We were there the same time! Yes it is very nice. Take advantage of the sunrise safari if you can. It was great!

We called promptly at 9AM today and did not have to wait on line to speak with a CM. Wanted to book a studio, but none were available. Cast member told DH that 1 bedroom was open, but we declined.

After some discussion, we called back and 1 bedroom was still available, so we booked. Will be concierge Dec 16-23. Then 8 days at Wilderness Lodge Villas and 5 days BCV. Longest trip so far.
