AKL concierge or YC concierge?

We are planning our 2004 trip to Disney and are trying to decide between the YC or AKL concierge levels.

We have stayed at the YC concierge and really enjoyed. We love the Epcot resort area. WE like just being able to walk out of the hotel and have somewhere to go for a stroll or on a last minute decision to go to Epcot.

We are thinking of the AKL concierge because my kids keep asking when they can stay at that resort and they want to see the animals from their room. I stayed at the AKL in a Savannah room in Feb ( It was a work related stay, so I was alone) and enjoyed it but found that I didn't feel like going back to the parks at night because you had to get back on the bus.

We are going Thanksgiving week 2004

Help me decide

I've been researching concierge level resorts and the cruise line. I've found out that AKL concierge offers savannah view, all day buffet, sunrise safari, turndown, and more. I haven't been interested in YC so I can't comment on that one. (My kids are set on CSR for next year - with maybe a day or two elsewhere for me - heehee think CT):teeth:

Whoa! all day buffet,

From about 11:30 till 5pm they have goldfish crackers, gummi bears, trail mix, nuts and cinnamon chips... really, light fare.

However, AKL concierge is wonderful :)

Hi Josephine,

I've stayed concierge at the GF, BW and AKL in the past. I've also sampled the concierge at the Contemporary.

I think the AKL concierge is the best value of any concierge I've experienced so far. The food is better, and the rooms are less expensive. I'd trade it for a bus ride any day.

I'll be at the Beach Club concierge in December, and the Poly concierge in January. If you'd like a review of those, drop me a line: testa@ncat.edu.

Sincerely,

Len

P.S. My 300th post! Woo hoo!

What about one or two nights at AKL then YC, we split our trip up this pass Sept. between WL and BWV had best of WDW.

How many days are you going for?
How about YC concierge :) and then the lst 2 nights at AKL concierge. or start at AKL concierge 2 nights, then move to the YC :)
cant give up that convenience of Epcot resort area, and BW!

I have heard that AKL concierge is very nice, but YC...ahhhhh, love it! :)

I'll be at YC concierge for Thanksgiving next year, ;)
our 4th annual Thanksgiving at WDW...
see ya there...? :D

Laura :)

I've stayed at both and the service and amenities at the AKL concierge are significantly better than the YC IMHO.

The YC was OK, but I didn't enjoy the lounge--it was more like a restaurant with stiff tables and chairs instead of a relaxing seating area. I also found the staff to be so-so in their guest services, a very small request by my DH was not handled.

The AKL concierge I simply can't say enough about. Incredible staff and lounge. And where else can you watch zebras play from your balcony :)

There isn't an all day buffet in ANY WDW concierge lounge. The offerings at the AKL seemed more diverse and exciting.

The advantages with the YC are SAB, walking distance to Epcot and MGM, and somewhat larger rooms.

Princess Angel, yes we will definitely see you there. I want to just spend a few nights at the AKL and then the rest at YC but don't know if everyone else will be keen on switching resorts.

Right now we are thinking of going the Sat before Thanksgiving for 8 nights.

DuckLite, thanks for the info on AKL concierge

Split your stay!! The AKL concierge is AWESOME! Make sure you are there when you can go on the sunrise safari - we did that in June and it was great. YC concierge is also good but a whole different world. We love splitting stays and won't do it any other way now. To us it's like having two separate vacations.
