AKL Concierge or Regular Savannah View Room?

Hi everyone! My better half and I are planning a trip to Disneyworld for Nov. 3-Nov. 8. We are staying in the Animal Kingdom Lodge on the Discovery Magic Package. My boyfriend is nervous about going (since this is his first trip to Disney), so I'm trying to make our trip as hassel-free as possible.

Do you think I should book a regular Savannah view room, or is the Concierge room worth the extra $$?

Whether the concierge room is worth it or no depends on your vacation budget. A concierge room is bigger then a regular savannah view room. I believe that if you book a concierge room they cannot garentee a view though. Doesn't the "Discovery Magic" include meals? With concierge there is food out all day but if two of your meals are covered with the Discovery Magic package it might not be as big a savings.

I would compare the difference in price between the two types of rooms and take into account that you could end up with a water view concierge room. Then you would need to decide what is important to your vacation experiance.

That sunrise safari that only concierge offers would be hard to pass up. I can't afford it, but if you can, I would go for the concierge, if for the safari only.

Don't they charge an additional fee for the Sunrise Safari in addition to the price you are paying for the concierge room?

Yep. I figure if they can afford concierge, they could afford the extra $40 per person for the safari.

We had the same debate, and finally decided that for the cost, it was not worth it for us. We were really mostly interested in the Sunrise Safari, and by the time you factor in the higher rate plus the safari cost for the 5 of us, it was a small fortune. I also found I was juggling our schedule to try to be around at the right times to enjoy the food offerings. If it's just the two of you though, your decision could be completely different.

Hi everyone! Thanks for the great recommendations! I think that since it is just the two of us, it's my boyfriend's first trip to WDW, and we haven't been on vacation in 4 years, we might go ahead and SPLURGE on the Concierge rooms. How's that for justifying the extra $$$$$?

Also, after reading some of the reviews on the Disboards about the AKL Concierge, it's hard to pass up!!!!
