Just moments ago, two female maintenance workers installed a lighted make up mirror in our studio vanity area! I asked if everyone was getting them, and they said just this floor, but who knows...

I imagine this will make Diane happy!

Weather has been great in low to mid 80's without afternoon showers.

And turn-down still has chocolates with African proverbs. Questions anyone?

I know some have complained about the cut backs, but other than the soups I don't notice much missing. There are still African smoothies, ice tea and lemonade available throughout the day, wine and beer from 5 to 7 and after dinner drinks from 8 to 10 with assorted desserts. Haven't seen Zebra domes, but we've been in the parks later more than here. There are evening apps in phyllo dough, different each evening, and of course uncrustables, veggies and different dips for breads.

Well! Now we DO need that 50 pt. add on that DH claims we DON'T need! Then our whole stay next year can be concierge!

There used to be a round, hinged mirror in the vanity area in ALL of the rooms at AKL. It wasn't lighted, but it was a heck of a lot easier to see in that than in the regular mirror, even in the dim light. For whatever reason they took them all out and sold them on Mouse Surplus.

It would be FABULOUS to be able to see well enough to apply more than sunscreen without risking looking like a trollop in natural light.

Last year it was white chocolate when we went. Is it still white chocolate? How nice that the area is being lit up better.

Woo hoo! I wish they would put one in all of the villas at AKV.

jackskellingtonsgirl: I remember those nice magnifying mirrors in the AKL rooms and I wondered where they went! I think they were only in the deluxe-size rooms (5th and 6th floors, the rooms that were converted to AKV). I hoped that the AKV bathrooms would have those same mirrors so I was surprised when we didn't have one on our first stay at AKV.

How funny this subject has come back up again. We just got back from AKV about 3 weeks ago and we stayed in a 1BR in Kidani Village. Unfortunately we did not get into the Concierge level but the one comment I had was...need a nice lighted area to put on make up.

Now don't beat me up too bad here, yes I am one of those women who need their daily amount of make up each and every day even when on vacation. Plus based on the lack of good lighting here at AKV I could have had an eyebrow hair the size of a house and never saw it to be plucked!!!

I know a case of TMI here but just gotta keep it real....

OK decision made, next time at AKV it is Concierge level for me all the way!!!!

evening cheeses: five country cheddar, blue, manchego, and tillamook cheddar. Evening chocolates appear to be dark, there was a lovely small "Happy Mother's Day" on a smaller easel, and we also received both a larger heart shaped Animal Kingdom Lodge chocolate and a rectangle shaped one. None of the chocolates have been eaten yet.

Wish us luck for tomorrow's Atlantis launch. Unfortunately we leave Jambo and check into GF (just garden view) for DH's surprise.

Ah yes, so our lips and eyes will be lined perfectly, but remember it goes both ways: Good news for the ladies is that with better lighting it may mean fewer men walking around with nose & ear hair waving in the breeze Well... one could hope.

Hmm. I *think* at one time the magnifying mirrors were in all of the rooms. I say that because we only had a deluxe room once - it was an upgrade on a short trip. I am pretty sure that our very first stay at AKL in 8/06 had a magnifying mirror in the pool view room. I can't remember exactly when it was after that, but there was a trip where I could see the patch in the wallpaper where they took the mirror out. And that would have been a plain room - not deluxe or a villa. Next month will just be our 3rd time in a villa. The mirrors were removed before we bought our DVC.

At any rate, the AKL/V rooms are dark and it would be LOVELY of them to bring back the mirrors!!

EDIT: Looking at my signature, I think the 2/07 trip was when we had the deluxe room, and then the standard view room we had 12/07 didn't have the mirror.
