AKL concierge morning safari ?

We are staying at the AKL concierge on the Friday eve before our cruise so that we can go on the morning safari the morning before the cruise. Will I need a park pass beside the safari fee ? And what time does the safari end and begin???

I don't know exactly when it ends/begins, but we saw the truck on the savanna by our room around 7:30 am and I know that there is a breakfast after that. It is an hour from Disney to the ports, so, I would say the earliest you could get to the ports if you did the safari would be around 9:30. I think the times change through out the year because of the varrying sunrise times. I would call AKL to see if they have a schedule.

You do need a park ticket for the Sunrise Safari; they check them in the concierge lounge before you leave for Animal Kingdom Park.

They only offer the Sunrise Safari on Sunday's and Thursday's. I have one booked for our upcoming trip in August. We were told to report to the 6th floor lounge between 6:30 and 7 am, and there is a continental breakfast, but they also advised to not eat too much as the breakfast buffet at the end of the safari is HUGE in a private room at the Tusker House. Probably be done by 10ish. I am not sure it is something you want to be rushed with however. It's $49.95 for adults, 24.95 for children 3-11, and park admission is required. That's all the info I have, hope it helps.

You will need to use a park ticket for this safari. They check all tickets in the lounge before you go. The only tickets they can't run through their computers and take a day off of are the AP tickets, which are obviously AP by their information on the back. You're going to love the sunrise safari! It is totally "worth" it!

Hi Tony - Here is the info from an e-mail I rec'd from Concierge this week (I was inquiring about our stay in Oct.)...

The Sunrise Safari Breakfast Adventure is held on Sundays and Thursdays and is exclusively offered to our concierge guests staying here at the Animal Kingdom Lodge. Concierge guests going on the Sunrise Safari will meet in the 6th floor concierge lounge between 6:30 AM and 7:00 AM. At this time, there will be coffee and juice available and the Animal Programs Cast Member will be on hand to give you a run-down of the morning's activities. At promptly 7:30am, a private bus will be departing from the Animal Kingdom Lodge to the Animal Kingdom Park, where our guests will be able to see some of the backstage animal areas (via the bus). Once there, our guests will board the Kilimanjaro Safari Ride, where they will go on a 45 min. or so safari with our Animal Programs Cast Member. The Animal Programs cast member will be able to share with our guests information about the animals, the habitat we have created and answer any questions that they may have. After the Safari, guests will be escorted to a private dining room (called the School Room) in the Tusker House Restaurant. There they will find a lavish buffet set-up that has an assortment of both traditional American and African Items. At this time, guests will be given a Fast Pass to enjoy the Kilimanjaro Safari Ride as it for our regular guests. There is a separate charge for the Sunrise Safari. For adults is $49.95 and for children (3-11) it is $24.95. Park admission is required at a separate charge and a credit card is required at the time of booking in order to guarantee the reservation (this number will be used as a guarantee only, as the safari is charged to the guests room the day of the event). There is a 48-hour cancellation policy and the safari is booked 90 days out from the day of the event. This event can only be booked by contacting the Animal Kingdom Lodge Itinerary Planning Office.

According to an email from AKL Concierge planning the days have recently just changed to Sunday & Thursday.

But they do have a Sunset Safari that is held right at AKL. You drive around the savannahs and then have dinner at Jiko. Maybe you could do that instead!
