I'm a new DVC owner at AKL, and noticed that is the only resort where your points could be used for Concierge Level. I usually participate in some type of dining plan while visiting, and I'm not sure if being on the Concierge Level would be worth it, in terms of maybe just purchasing Quick Service vs Basic.

Talk me in or out????

From Dis Veteran to & Earning Ears, please respond---What are your thoughts????

Thanks!

I think your answer lies in how many points it would use and how many you have. If you are planning on a 'big' vacation using the points by banking them in the future, don't. But if you are overflowing with points and don't know how to use them all, go for it.

Somewhere in all of these posts, there was a discussion about whether the Concierge level was 'worth it'. Overall, I walked away with the general feeling that most people responding did not think it was worth it. But, I don't have any personal experience with it. Obviously, Disney gets enough people to book this level or they would not offer it. So there must be people who love it.

Friends & I did it once for a special occasion (milestone b-day), mainly to do the Sunrise Safari, which was awesome (paid for separately). Regarding meals, the breakfast is continental, no hot foods except oatmeal. Dinner is appetizers and desserts. It is not meant to be your entire dinner, just a sampling. If a savannah view is important to you, be aware that only 3 rooms are savannah view, 2 are pool view and there's no guarantee. If you do get the savannah view, it's not the best.

Thank You Debbie for your response. Wow you have been around for a while---many posts :)

Thanks for your response. At this point, I need xtra points Haha!! It looks like it would have to be a special vacation in order for me to venture to the Concierge Level. Thanks again

Concierge at AKV is a nice treat but IMO it's more fluff than substance.

You are suppose to get daily room cleaning and turn down service but in reality, it doesn't always happen.

There may be competition for the food and drink offerings and remember that it serves not only the DVC but all of the Concierge guests at the AKL. During our last stay there there was a line waiting for the opening bell for the feed trough so we waited and watched a TV show in our room. After the show, the line was gone but so was the food. At night when they opened up the beer cooler, we would watch people taking several beers back to their rooms along with food.

We will see if anything has changed next month when we give it another try.

At AKV, you try to book the Jambo House Concierge level villas for the concierge services and the ability to book the Sunrise Safari. The view of the savanna is partially blocked by the overhang of the roof. At least one of the savanna view villas is handicap accessible, meaning no bathtub, just a roll in shower.

You can't request a view with these rooms, you get what you get. And they go pretty quickly at 11 months out. So if you want to book these rooms, you pretty much have to own at AKV. Occasionally you can get AKV Concierge at less than 11 months out, but it might only be a night here or there. Or someone has already cancelled and the wait list is open

I'm a DVC owner and have points at AKLV's. Concierge USED to be worth it, before DVC moved in. Now the food offerings are so small, not replenished all the time, and pretty much the same every evening, unlike other concierge's at WDW. I saw a drunken gathering with TONS of beer bottles on the table one night and heard the concierge CM turning down their request of taking a CASE back to their rooms of the Tusker beer. I thought the request was pretty tacky. What I've seen of lots of guests is pretty tacky and I don't want to deal with that kind of attitude on vacation. The savannah view is horrible and the last time we had pool view, we also had bees. Prior to DVC being involved they had wonderful hot soups, a variety of appetizers in larger quantities and with larger plates, cooking demonstrations, and activities in the lounge for kids. Nope...no longer worth it at all.

We have stayed at AKV club level as whilst it is nice it is so many more points for not that much extra. As Bill said it is a lot of fluff. I would not even think about it if you are going to get the DP. Check out the appatizers/desserts in Boma and Jiko if they are to your whole groups tastes then club level may be for you. If you have fussy eaters then I would stay clear.

For a studio yes, 1 & 2 br are marginal. As a new DVC owner it is a lot like the same idea of going from a studio (or regular hotel room) to a 1 or 2 br villa, no need for Disney dining all the time, it becomes a choice to use it when you want to.

Interesting. WOW! You would think Disney would make some changes to improve the quality! Thanks for the feedback.

I haven't stayed at AKV yet. I have stayed CL at CR and BC and thought it was worth the money. I own at BLT and would love to see CL as an option. I agree w/if you have extra points go for it, but don't borrow points to do it.

What services did you receive at the other resorts, and how much was it? Did you use points and money or just money to book? :confused3

Thanks for the information!!!!

You can't use points at CR nor BC because of the DVC portion there.

There is only AKV at Jambo House that has concierge level villas.
