OK, I asked about WL the other night. The current selection of snacks didn't sound all that hot, so I don't think we'll be upgrading our current WL reservation for July. It will just be dh and me and all of our arrangements have been made, so I can't really justify the extra expense.

However, concierge at AKL in the fall sounds like a real possibility. We will be a party of 7, including 3 children and 2 grandparents. Having someone help with arrangements for our party and snacks available for our hungry crew sounds like a big plus. We have enjoyed AKL in the past but have never stayed concierge there.

This is from the AKL FAQ:

FOOD-The following from Dreams Unlimited Travel expains AKL Concierge food:Macheo (Sunrise Offering)
6:30am
Coffee and assorted juices

Miamko (Adventurous Awakenings)
7:00AM - 10:30AM
An assortment of fresh fruits, juices, pastries and cereals.

Vitafunio (Safari Snacks)
11:30AM to 3:00PM
Various snacks and beverages

Chai (Afternoon Tea)
3:00PM - 4:30PM
Loose leaf teas, assorted scones, cookies and biscuits.

Kisikusiku (Twighlight Offerings)
5:00PM - 7:00PM
Assorted wines, hors d'oeuvers, and specialty appetizers (provided from the Lodge's restaurants, like Jiko and Boma)

Rehema (Evening Indulgences)
8:00PM - 10:00PM
Desserts and Cordials

The assortment and quality of the Concierge offerings are on par with the best Concierge lounges on property. With the possible exception of the Polynesian, the evening offerings here are arguably the best on property.

Dry cereals (corn flakes, fruit loops, raisin bran, ?)
milk (whole, 1%, skim)
chocolate milk
orange juice, mango juice, pineapple juice (bulk)
apple juice, grape juice in single serve containers
coffee, tea, and the espresso machine.

You could ask for bread to make toast, but it was not out on the spread.

The evening offerings were

chicken nuggets
skewered beef, pork, salmon, chicken (two or three per day)
ribs (one day)
wraps (veggie)
flat breads(some days)

You'd have to ask betterlatethannever on the original thread. I only quoted him. I posted the link to the original above.

In this case "bulk" means not in indivdual cans or bottles.

The list of evening foods would be a culmination of the week, not every night. They usually ahve one or two hot items and some chips/dips, crudites, and cheese crackers. It's not a meal, just a snack.

Best concierge food of all of the Deluxe resorts, IMO. (Can't speak for GF)

We loved all the offerings. The South African wines were wonderful. The "help yourself" espresso/cappuchino mader was such a treat.

The atmosphere was wonderful, also.

I also loved getting the hot oatmeal in the am.

Go for it! -- you will love it!!!
