AKL Concierage or WL Concierage?

We are trying to decide where to go in February 2006. For the last 2 years we have stayed at Poly Concierage since we have practically lived at MK. My children (ages 8 and 3) now seem to like AK and MGM more so we are spending equal time at these places. We thought why not try something different? The last time we stayed at Poly the service wasn't as great as it was the first time so it seems like a perfect opportunity to change. We have narrowed it down to AKL or WL. Having only been to the restaurants in these places, we are not sure which would be better for us. Money is not an object since we really splurge each year on one big vacation. Any reason why (other than the animals) one place is better than the other? How is the concierage service? We tend to eat breakfast at concierage and the kids like the snacks throughout the day. These are big plusses for us. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

If you were going right now, I'd definitely suggest AKL, especially since you've already experienced the Poly. At this time, the WL doesn't have any type of lounge, food is set up on tables around the balcony and even though it's not considered "light", it's really not on the same level as an AKL or Poly.

Someone has reported that the WL is going to be building a concierge lounge over the next few months. You might want to ask this question again in a few months and see how the new lounge has affected things at the WL. It may make it more appealing and perhaps they'll put in comfortable seating, a television and desk area for the staff.

With the AKL concierge, you also get the added perk of booking the sunrise safari for your family. Not sure if you're interested in that, but that's an option not available anywhere else.

The kids seem to be leaning towards Wilderness Lodge. Does anyone have any pictures of the rooms? For concierage, do you get deluxe rooms or is that only if you go without concierage? Any help would be appreciated. The kids are leaning towards it due to proximity to MK and the boat ride over there.

There are some nice pictures on this site, http://www.ourlaughingplace.com/ASP/costcalc.asp?resId=WL&pageFunction=researcher. Also some 360 degree views of the concierge food offerings and of course Deb's site always has some nice pictures, http://www.allearsnet.com/acc/g_wl.htm.

Hopefully with the addition of the new lounge, it will make it more homey. As an FYI, you can rent bikes at the WL and they have a 1 mile trail that leads to FW. If you're lucky, you might see some deer grazing, bunnies, or other wildlife. I'm sure your kids will enjoy it there.

turnlisa,

I think your boys will love WL. I have two DD's (6 and 11) and they just love it there. We have stayed concierge there the last two years and have been very pleased with it. I don't think the rooms are any different, just the service. And the service we have received there has been excellent. My girls just love the pool there and the boat ride to MK. The walk from the Lodge to the boat launch is very beautiful. We always see bunnies and such. If you decide to stay there, ask for a room on the MK side. We have been lucky the last two years to be able to see the Fireworks from our room. Fort Wilderness is close by and there is a lot to do there. We do the campfire/sing-a-long/movie every year. The girls love it. It's an outdoor campfire, there's lots of singing and then there's a disney movie. Chip and Dale also show up and intereact with the crowd. It is a lot of fun. There's a schedule of what movies will be showing at the concierge desk. There is also the petting zoo. :flower:
