We rec'd a bounceback/future stay offer while in WDW last month and booked at the AKL :cool1:.

I started looking through the pics and saw the room w/ bunk beds and wanted to know what other parents who had stayed there w/ young ones thought of it? My tots will be almost 5 & 3 and was just wondering how safe they really are.

Thanks :)

Hi
We stayed at AKL last year in a room with bunkbeds - our children were 6 & 4. Our 6 year old stayed on the top bunk and had no probs. The bed has the wooden rail around the top and the 'exit' is at the foot end so you have to want to get out rather than there being any possibility of falling out. The ladder was sturdy. Our younger child went up and down with no problems either.
The bottom bunk was great too! The bunks had their own lights which the children thought were great!!!

Hope you have a wonderful time! :)

We stayed at AKL last year in a bunk bed room when my kids were 4 and 2, and again this year at WL. Like the previous poster said, the rail is across the whole top/sides of the top bunk, so it is safe. They have to go to the foot of the bed to climb down the ladder. We had no problems and my son loved sleeping on the top bunk both years. For the bottom bunk, I think you can request bed rails for your 2 year old. We didn't need them, so I can't comment on what they are like. My kids now only want to stay in rooms with bunk beds.

When our son was 11 years old he slept in the top bunk at AKL. Now if it can withstand a 140# 5'5" 11 year old it can survive little ones.

we LOVED those bunk beds! dd was just four at the time and very much not a good climber. we spotted her each time she went up & down the ladder. once she was up there, she was thrilled. she hopes that she can have bunk beds at home someday!

the big bonus for us was that we travel with my mom. rather than share a bed with dd, they had separate spaces. we would love to stay in a deluxe with bunk beds again!!!

we loved the bunk beds when we stayed at the AKL. My kids are a bit older and need their own beds. Our only problem at first was that they both wanted to be on the top. But after the first night my 6 foot DS decided that sitting up in the top bunk just did not work :rotfl: , and he slept in the bottom one for the rest of the time.

a few years back we got a lucky upgrade of our room to a bunk bed room right in the main building! We had a discount base room for $160 a night booked so we were thrilled. My kids were 11 and 9 at the time and they LOVED the bunk beds! It was great! They loved the little lights too, they love to read for a few minutes each night so that was perfect for them!
