I have read about the story telling around the fire at AKL...has anyone ever brought marshmallows and the makings of s'mores...would that be too weird?!

If I remeber correctly the fire pit is entirely closed off and there is screening or even glass infront of the fire.

I think you are correct.

::yes::
The fire pit is fenced off and the actual fire is too far away from the fence to do marshmallows. Even if you could, I'm quite sure they wouldn't let you because it is too crowded with kids to have people putting things into the fire (plus, it would be hard to explain why some kids have s'mores and others don't).
Here's a picture I found.

Guess this means going someplace that serves s'mores for dessert!

Fort Wilderness has a nightly fire where they will sell s'mores kits. It's followed by an outdoor movie.

50's Prime Time Cafe in MGM has s'mores for dessert;o) We have dinner reservations there on 31 December - which, I planned specifically because of the s'mores!!
