We will will be staying part of our week at AKL(1st time and we cant wait!!) I heard there are crafts and cookie decorating for kids. Where are these activities held? We are taking a day off from the parks and are going to hang around the resort all day, looking for something for my 6yr old to do. Thanx for your help. Also, where can I get a magic wand to make this counter go faster?

A very wise move on your part. There is soooo much for kids to do during the day at AKL. ::yes:: We wish we had the foresight to schedule our last trip there that way; you will be glad you did. I expect if you were to call the resort they could fax you a copy of the day's activities, and there are tons of them. There are crafts by the pool, there is flamingo feeding, there is an activity where the kids do rubbings of the really cool brass plates all around the lobby, there is story time by the firepit at night, there is of course the awesome pool and pool slide, and it goes on and on. Of course we also enjoyed hanging around on the porch of our Savannah view room, watching the animals.
You and the kids are going to have a great time staying there.:hyper:

thank you so much, like I said before, we're very excited about trying AKL. We were dissapointed w/ the last deluxe we tried so I have high hopes for this one.

As long as you get Savannah view, and ensure that your view is of the Central savannah (the one with the Zebras and Wildebeests), you will be in good shape. The Unofficial Guide suggests you get a room on the 3rd or 4th floor for best viewing, but my wife thinks that the 2nd floor is better for animal viewing.

We Loved AKL; it is by far our favorite. If we weren't DVC members, we would stay there every time (or nearly every time). Even the food court (Mara) is good, somewhat pricey (but what isn't at WDW;)) but good for what it is.

Hi ~ Not really a touring plan but there is enough activities starting in the early a.m. and ending in the late p.p.(night vision googles) that you actually have to make choices!!! some activities overlap or run concurrent...SO MUCH FUN!!!! And a little known secret not listed on their daily activities list...pool opening ceremony! At 10:00 am the lifeguards 'officially' open the pool with the help of one lucky child! Be "in the area" around 10 minutes before and inquire about it with the lifegaurds....you even get a magical moments certificate to keep!!!!

Have Fun ~ Debbie

ps I have the complete list of AK activities at home and if you would like I can post them all later tonight...just let me know?!

Debbie, Thank you so much, that would be so great!! We will definitely miss the pool opening ceremony, because we will be checking out of POR and getting to AKL around 11:00 am, but my DD would be up for everything else they have to offer. Thanx again for being so nice, I love these boards w/ such nice people....so much better than here at work with a bunch of meanie customers:p

Here is the list they gave us when we stayed there earlier this month:
