Hi. We will be staying at AKL in August in a standard club room and had a few questions. I understand they now all have a savannah view, but do they all face the Arusha Savannah and do the club rooms extend out further along the wings or are they in the sections closest to the lobby? We actually wouldn't mind being out further. Also, I thought I had read they had updated the club rooms and that they now have flat screen tv's. Has anyone stayed in one of the 4th floor rooms who could confirm that? Thanks a bunch :)

Hey buddy! :wizard:

SuAnne, you have concierge and free dining, right? There is someone on another thread complaining Disney contacted them and made them move to a non club room to get the dining.

Actually the person who had to make a choice to drop free dining if they wanted concierge was not contacted by Disney. That guest, according to their post, already had a CL level room booked which they wanted to convert to FD but when they called to ask about changing their reservation to include FD, the FD room allotment at that level wasn't available. The guest then had to make a choice as to whether they wanted to choose a standard room with FD or keep their CL room w/o FD and they are still hoping for a cancellation so they can have both. Disney wouldn't contact someone to move them from concierge- the guest initiated the call about FD availablity for their existing CL reservation. If anyone already has a CL/FD reservation then they aren't going to lose it.

Anyway, I digress. The concierge lounge is still on the 6th floor and SV rooms there face the Uzima savannah. There are AKLV concierge rooms on the same floor that are either savannah or pool view. I'm not sure if the non-villa rooms have a pool view option or are all savannah view or if they're located on both the 4th/6th floor. Before the DVC expansion there were CL level rooms located on the 5th floor which is now all villa accommodations. I'm not sure about the 4th floor standard rooms so I'm not much help there- I'm sure someone else will post who has more knowledge than I do as I think I just confused myself, lol.--Kathy

Oh, okay thanks!

I was told by CM when I booked that all standard club level rooms have been moved to the 4th floor and all of the 'what used to standard rooms on the 6th floor' have been converted to DVC rooms. Still hoping for an answer as to which Savannah the 4th fl CL rooms face & how far away they are from the lounge. I hope I don't have to walk and walk and walk some more to get to the lounge for a glass of wine or can of soda.

I didn't realize ALL the 6th floor rooms were now villas but yes, the rooms on the 4th floor are "standard" which really only means they sleep 4 vs. 5. We used to be able to get non-villa "deluxe" rooms which really only meant they slept up to 5- the accommodations weren't nicer/deluxe. In the past all the non-6th floor concierge rooms did face the savannah only and were on the Arusha savannah. Most people said the views were stunning and worth being on the lower floor. I can't imagine they'd want anyone having a long hike. It'd be nice to see, on a map, where the CL rooms are located.---Kathy

We stayed at AKL concierge last month. Our room was on the 4th floor and looked out over the main savannah at the back of the hotel (don't know the name of that savannah). The room was relatively close to the lobby (the last room in the first set of rooms along the wing). I do not know if all concierge rooms are so close.

There is another thread similar to this but I can't find it. However this is the picture that went with it. The 2 circles represent where some club level people were staying on the 4th floor. I stayed in the green circle area and it was about a 2 minute walk (and an elevator ride) to the Concierge lounge.

We are going in December this year and I have been bugging AKL concierge already, luckily I got Don. He was very informative and told me that all standard club level rooms are now on the 4th floor of the various buildings ( not sure what that means) with emphasis on the Arusha savannah. I knew what room I wanted so have already requested it. The 5th and 6th floor(s) have been converted to AKV.

So If You Book Standard Room Club Level Can You Request A View Over The Zebra Trail??

Thanks

The Zebra tail SV rooms do face the Arusha savannah. Sounds like that's where all the standard concierge rooms are located. The CM's there are just fantastic and go way above and beyond, IMO. I travel in a power wheelchair and one evening noticed that a tire was a little flat. I asked where a local gas station was where I could get it filled and just a few minutes later, there was a CM with a compressor filling my tire right in the lounge! AKL concierge, IMO is worth every penny!---Kathy

Does anyone know if they have put flatscreen tvs in the concierge rooms or did I dream I read that:confused3 Maybe I am confusing it with the AKV rooms.

Some correct, some not.

There are NO longer ANY concierge "hotel rooms" on the 6th floor. All the concierge rooms (I believe it's five 2BR lockoffs) on 6 are DVC villas. Some are pool view, some are savanna view (more than 1/2, I think). The Concierge Lounge IS still up there.

Likewise, all the hotel concierge rooms on 5 have been converted to DVC villas (though they are no longer concierge).

ALL the hotel concierge rooms are on 4, closest in toward the lobby. They are all savanna view. What I can't remember is if they are all Arusha savanna view, or if there are a couple that are Sunset Savanna view.

In any case, it's not a far walk to the elevator...no further than if, prior to conversion, you had been put on the 5th floor (where, actually, the BULK of the regular hotel concierge rooms were located prior to DVC conversion).

Wow!

I've never seen a report of a concierge room out where that red circle is...at least not since the DVC conversion.

Can you point me to the thread where that's being reported. Thanks!
