Leaving for AKL the 3 bedroom villa at Jambo in 8 days! This is our first trip as DVC members even though been members since 2007. We used all of last years points, this years, and some of next years but it will be so worth it (I hope). Bringing a lot of the family and some friends as well and have a lot of plans for safari/eating at Jiko and also eating at Brown Derby.

Been to Disney a number of times and on cruise twice (including Europe in 07) but am super excited for this trip with all I have heard about AKL.

Wow! This will be quite a vacation...enjoy!!!

Sounds like a fantastic trip! Got any special plans or going to do any special things?

How exciting!! We stayed in a Grand Villa at Kidani this past May. It was absolutely amazing. You will not want to leave the room, really! :goodvibes Best wishes. Check back in afterwards and let us know how it was!!

this will be an awesome trip for you... enjoy your trip!

Awesome !!! A Grand Villa at Jambo :thumbsup2 On a future trip with extended family we hope to be lucky enough to book one ( pool table !! ); keep telling DH we really need to add-on at AKV to get that 11 mos priority booking advantage :rolleyes1

Have a great trip & hope you'll post about it & photos :)

( you're from SI? us too !)

Hi ERICRSINY,
That sounds like a trip that is absolutely worth the points. You are going to have a fantastic time at AK in the Grand Villa. Enjoy your trip and create a lifetime of memories.

We stayed in the Jambo GV this past Jan. and absolutely loved it! It really is gorgeous and very much worth the points. We even gave another curious family the "grand" tour on the day we were leaving. They were hoping to stay there soon. The master bathroom is the major standout :cloud9:

Wow - that sounds like a great trip. I wish I could convince my family to go for Christmas in a Grand Villa:santa:. So far - they just think I am crazy. I am sure I speak for all of us when I say feel free to write a trip report and post lots of pictures. Have a wonderful vacation.

I finished packing tonight. The rest of the family not so much but I would rather be at the last add-on stages at the end of the week then packing everything. We will do some food shopping when we get there so we can save on the nights that we do not have dinner plans. Right now we have a couple of less packed days so thats for enjoying the lodge, pool, and the rest. We also have a Safari from the lodge (the later one) scheduled so that's going to be a slow park day and dinner is included. I do want to wonder over to Kidani to do a compare but glad we did Jambo as I would still have to climb stairs with kids and I am so opposed to doing that on vacation if I can.

When we were at AKL in July we struck up a conversation with the night manager who told us we have to stay in a Jambo grand villa sometime and that they are the best grand villas of all. Can't wait to hear about your stay!

Hi Ericrsiny:

This is a great post. Please keep in going.:thumbsup2 Have a magical time.

So I will try to do some posts and pictures while there depending. Re-doing some lunch/dinner plans tonight as we got lucky 48 hours ago and got a dinner ADR for Citricos so going to cancel Brown Derby ADR and go from there. Still wanting to try to cook some dinners at lodge to save money so when we do eat at parks/other resorts I can justify the expense a little more.

And WOW..it is simply amazing. Need to get kids unpacked, dinner picked up, and a game of pool to play so might be back later.

Have a wonderful trip!! I would love any details or pics - taking my 3 kids and the grands to stay at AKL in a Grand Villa is my dream trip - (once we get our 'late-life' baby out of college):cloud9:!
