AKL.....2008 points??

wow this thread is confusing! LOL

We bought points at Kidani w/ an Oct UY and DID get 08 points...I guess because Kidani will be open prior to our UY expiring?
That is correct. Your Oct '08 UY runs from 10/1/08 through 9/30/09. The Kidani Unit you purchased opens 5/1/09 so there is an overlap there from 5/1/09 through 9/30/09. For UYs where there would be some overlap between the '08 UY and their Kidani Unit being open, they give you '08 points if they have them available. Those UYs would be Jun, Aug, Sep, Oct, Nov and Dec. For the earlier UYs (Feb, Mar, Apr) they don't give you '08 points because Kidani will not be open until after those points expire. For example, Apr '08 points are valid for stays between 4/1/08 and 4/1/09. The earliest Kidani Units open 5/1/09 so those points could never be used anywhere.

You would only pay dues from either when you purchase or when the building opens.
Dues begin on the later of: your purchase date, the start of your initial UY or the occupancy date of the Unit you purchased. So let's say you purchased a Kidani contract for a Unit with an occupancy date of May 1, 2009 and a Jun UY. If your initial UY is Jun '08, your dues would begin on 5/1/09 (occupancy date of the Unit). If they were sold out of Jun '08 points and your initial UY is Jun '09, then your dues would begin on 6/1/09 (the start of your initial UY).

This being the case, the OP really needs to talk to her guide because she should be able to get her preferred June use year with '08 points and developer points and then her '09 points next June. Assuming, of course, there are June use year points availble .

That explanation and rationale makes sense, thank you. However, I'm not sure if it is a sensible explanation for giving a greater benefit simply because of a different UY. Seems to me that DVC should have provided something else for those not getting 08 points (and I'm not talking the 100 developer points, because that is also available to those getting 08 points).

Not trying to cry foul here, just explaining a point of view...actually, I guess I am trying to cry foul :teacher:

Disney probably sees it as no different than purchasing at any other resort where timing determines how many points you get. If you have an Aug UY and added on today (at any resort other than AKV), your add-on would begin with '08 points. If I had a Sep UY and also added on today at the same resort, my add-on would begin with '07 points, if they still had them available. We would both pay the same price/pt and in both cases our dues would be pro-rated starting from today but I would get one year's worth of points more than you would get because I am still in my '07 UY.

Thank you!! This is the best explanantion I have had yet. It is a lot to wrap your mind around when backtracking and trying understand how you can get points on a month that has passed and a DVC that is not yet open. I think I get it now!

Thanks, that makes sense. Well, if there is nothing to do about it, then Disney is encouraging the following if you wish to add 200 points and you have an April-Jun UY:

ADD ON: 200 points at $104 - $8 incentive, plus 200 developer points, plus $1000 Visa Card, plus no MF until May 09 and you get points beginning in 2009

OR, you can,

PURCHASE A NEW CONTRACT Sept-DEC UY: 200 points at $104 - $8 incentive, plus 200 developer points, plus $1000 Visa Card, plus no MF until May 09 and you get 200 AKL in 2008 AND 2009.

Seems to me like choice #2 is obvious since you would be getting an extra year of points to use.

This is totally of the subject but how do I get the picture AKV and the cute Giraffe and Zebra in my Signature??? I want to be part of the club too!! I can't believe I am DVC!!!:rotfl:

Here is the way I do it. It probably is not the easiest, but it gets it done!;)

Right click on the image that you want to copy in my signature or someone else's. Click properties. Then highlight the URL address and click copy. Now go into your User CP and click Edit Signature. In the box that comes up there is a picture in the toolbar that looks like a postcard with a mountain range on it. Click on that and clear the address line. Then paste the URL address that you copied previously.

Hope this works for you! If not, post back and someone will be along with a different method, I'm sure.

Hi neighbor! I am a short ride up 125 and out 101 right next to Manchester. It's nice to have summer back for however long it lasts. Maybe it's here to stay for a while. At least the rain is over! ;)

I am so glad to see the rain end as well. My father said there was a huge hailstorm here while we were gone to CSR!! My plants look like someone shot them up!! Our summer is over on Monday when we all return to school! I work at my kids school so our vacation comes to an end together. I do look forward the beautiful New England Fall but boy I fear the winter!! It will be our new DVC membership that will keep me going until spring!:woohoo:

I totaly agree with you and this is why I passed on an addon this week. Some buyers of a 100 pt addon are getting 100 2008 pts plus 100 developer pts plus 100 2009 pts= 300 pts. For the same price I was only getting 100 developer pts plus 100 2009 pts= 200 pts Thanks but no thank you.

Have fun keeping track of points with two different UY's at the same resort.
