Akershus... Yes or No for Breakfast??

Akershus is great..I would definately try it...I heard Ariel shows up..I've heard Mulan and Jasmin have shown up...when my son and I went it was Belle, Cindy, Aurora, Snow, Mary Poppins

Yes! :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

DH and I went 2 years ago for Breakfast and he specifically requested it again last year but we couldn't get it (during free dining, we didn't book till 30 days ahead so got about nothing). This upcoming 2010 summer trip it was his first pick, he claimed for our DD, I asked her and she wanted Mickey (that's my girl!) so I booked both.

We loved the variety of things on the cold buffett, the hot table served items were good, the service was excellent and the princess interaction was wonderful. Even though I about had to slug Mulan for really flirting w/ my DH, we still had a great time. He loved all the attention and got alot from each princess and they all reffered to him as my prince. It was also great getting in the park a min or two ahead of the crowds, I have some amazing Epcot pictures with no one in them.

I know I'm in the minority here but we went to Akershus for breakfast about 3 weeks ago and it was by far the worst meal of our 10 day trip. Even the counter service meals were better!

:sad1:Our reservation was for 10:00 and we didn't get called to go in until 10:30. Then we waited in a line to get our picture taken with Bell for 25 minutes: no joke. Belle was wearing her "Christmas dress" which is fine I guess but my 2 year old daughter kept telling us that it "wasn't Belle". While waiting in line a guest was complaining to a worker that she had her pic taken with Belle 15 minutes ago and still wasn't seated. We, thankfully, got seated immediately after our picture at 10:55. 4 princesses immediately were at our table for an extremely rushed picture/hello and off they went for the rest of the meal. Our waiter came to the table approximately 15 minutes after we were seated and got our drink order. Our drinks and food plate didn't come out until 11:30, an hour and a half after our reservation time! Bacon was rubbery, sausage was okay. eggs were okay. potato stuff was very peppery, which I liked but my family didn't. Cold bar had some pastries/fruit but not enough of a selection to keep you interested while waiting an eternity for your food. We needed a refill on drinks/food but the waiter never came back and we had to ask another waiter who was roaming around for our ticket. It was the LONGEST, most frustrating meal we had. The food was the poorest of the trip, and the princesses only entertained our family for the first 10 minutes and then disappeared from our "room" completely.

I may have gone on an "off" day and since it was close to the holidays I'm sure it was busier than most days but we were completely bummed out about this meal. We were most excited for this one out of all of our reservations and most disappointed too!

we have an ADR for 8:30 on the 19th of this month for the princess storybook breakfast. as we have never done a meal this early, I have a question. is there a specific area that you have to enter the park or do you just get there and tell whatever CM you see that you have an early reservation?

thanks in advance for the info.

Tosh

We've been there twice for breakfast in the past 2 years and I liked it both times.
The food is pretty good, the wait was longer the first time (around 20 minutes)--but only about 5 minutes the second. The wait staff was great--especially the last time--we had 2 waitresses, it was wonderful! The princesses were very friendly both times as well.

I still think about these little muffins they have there--SO GOOD!

YES!! We have done this twice with our nieces and it was a huge hit both times. THe food was very good and the Princesses are wonderful.

You can special order at no extra cost, pancakes but no french toast or waffles

Never had the bfast, but the lunch was wonderful!

Do they have the cold buffet at breakfast (meaning, the meats.cheeses, salads?) Or is it just pasteries and fruit then?

Thanks!

YES, yes, yes!!! One of our favorites for breakfast and the princesses spend MUCH more time at your table than at CRT. On our "must do" list every time.

Just let the folks at the gate know you have reservations. I'm thinking they had a list that they checked our names against. It was no big deal and had no troubles getting in before park opening.... word to the wise. Allow plenty of walking time. A bit of a hike to "Norway" if you're running late!

Took my niece her in May 2008 and it was GREAT!! The food and interaction were the best I had seen. The service was good as well. My niece still talks about the breakfast. I would definatly go back.

We have been there for dinner and did not like the food at all. We were planning on going there for our next trip for breakfast. We are trying to get in as many princess interactions for our DD as we can.
For those of you who have been to both dinner and breakfast, please tell me the breakfast is better. We are going regardless as it is about our DD getting the interactions but I'd like some hope that we will like the food a bit better.
To the OP, sorry for piggybacking a question on your thread.

My girls (and mom and dad!) LOVE the breakfast here!!! We did not care for dinner anywhere near as much, but the breakfast is something we must do everytime we are at Epcot! Have a great time!

Thanks! We are staying at POP and have an 8:30am reservation. If we were at the bus by 7:30 do you think that gives us enough time?

thanks for your advice

I haven't stayed at POP, so I don't know how much time it will take for you to get to EPCOT from there. However, once there, give yourself at least 15 minutes walking time. I wouldn't be at the buses any later than 7:30 for sure!

Thanks! I am one of those people who hates to be late. My passporter says it takes 20-30 minutes so I will just make sure that everyone gets a swift kick in the tuckus to get them moving on time:thumbsup2

We really enjoyed the Akershus Breakfast. We did both the Cinderella's Royal Table and Akershus last time, and hands down,Akershus was better as far as the $ and the princess experience.
