My family and I are going for the first week of March and I am trying to get a dinner ADR for Akershus on Thr, 3/3. So far, no luck (I think it is the last day of free dining).

My question is, does anyone have any experience with Akershus dinner with no ADR? How long of a wait would you guess would it be around dinner time? We would probably be able to have dinner anytime between 5 and 7ish; would one time or another have a shorter wait?

If we do wait, is it something where one of us can wait and the others can walk around until we get "called"?

I'm still going to keep trying to get an ADR and even go to the restaurant early that day to see if they can get us in for dinner, but just curious!

Thanks for any comments/suggestions,

Since Akershus is a character meal that requires a credit card hold, so that folks are charged a no show fee if they don't show up, I really do not think you will be able to get in w/o an ADR.

It has a 2 day cancellation policy (must cancel at least 2 days before to not be charged the no show penalty) so do keep trying back, you may get lucky & be able to snag a cancellation. GL

We were there a few days ago around 7pm and while we were waiting for our table I saw that many people without reservations were sent away and told they should come back around 8pm and try it again.

We got into Akershus without an ADR. We just checked in at the podium and asked if they had anything and we got a 8:30 dinner. We had been trying to get into Akershus that whole week and kept being told that there was nothing.
So you never know, you might get lucky.
I would suggest making a backup ADR just in case.

I wouldn't count on just showing up and getting in, even if you are willing to wait a while. If you can't get an ADR for a restaurant, it means the restaurant is full at that time. You can sit and wait and return all you want, but it wont guarentee anything. The best thing to do is keep checking back to see if anything opens up. There are princesses at all meals, so don't be afraid to jump onto any time ADR that may come up (I did notice that there is no opening at all for a group of 4 at all on 3/3).

I think your better bet would be to keep checking online, the cancellation thread here and when you get to Disney, keep calling and asking about it. I don't think they take that many walk ins but you can always try

Keep in mind this week starts busy season at WDW up until the week after Easter. March is a very popular spring break month so as the other posters mentioned you may have better luck picking up an ADR online or over the phone because of a cancellation (since it is a credit card hold/deposit restaurant people will cancel). You just have to have good timing on that. Your best bet is to call a day or 2 before your vacation and to keep calling dining from your resort while you're there.

As far as walking up don't make it a special out of the way trip. If you're at the park you can always check but many of the more popular places in Epcot do not have walk up availability these days especially during peak times of the year. We were turned away from Le Cellier lunch 2 yrs ago during value season when it wasn't as popular as it is now.

Thanks for all the replies.

I've been checking online several times a day!

I've noticed that several people have mentioned to call and, if I remember correctly, I think I remember reading something about calling instead of trying online; do you guys really think that calling would make a difference?

I'll keep trying...

Thanks again to all!
