Hey there, was wondering which is better? I haven't been to either and I know crt is more money. However what are the big differences? What characters are at each? My friend and I are going no kids, money not an issue, but really would like to see Ariel and belle. Which would be better? Thanks

I went to breakfast at both CRT and Akershus. The princess characters at either are subject to change at any time, but based on my experience, Belle does not appear at CRT. She meets you at the front door of Akershus where you can get a picture with her, but she does not visit your table or take part in the "princess parade". Ariel visited the tables in both restaurants.

If you want the experience of eating inside Cinderella Castle, then go to CRT. But in my opinion Akershus is the better value. I also found the character interaction better there. The princesses at CRT seemed rushed on my visit.

We've been to all 3 meals at each. I prefer CRT's atmosphere as I really enjoy being in the castle. As for food, we like CRT breakfast better, but prefer Akershus for lunch and dinner. However, Belle no longer appears at CRT, so if that's what your friend wants, Akershus sounds like the obvious choice.

Both are definitely enjoyable! But, I'd have to say CRT based simply on the atmosphere...castle, etc. You can meet Ariel and Belle in Fantasy Land.

If you want to meet Belle go to Akershus but I prefer the atmosphere at CRT. Either way both are really great experiences so for a first timer I would recommend Akershus.

Akershus is definitely the better deal. The princesses are the same in general. If on DDP, it requires only one credit. If paying out of pocket, it will be more affordable than CRT as well with the same experience. CRT will give you a wand as a souvenir.

I think everyone needs to eat in the castle at least once. And then that is it... Akershus is a better value.

This is my comparison between Akershus and CRT:

PRINCESSES: In general, the princesses are pretty similar between the two venues. Ariel, Snow White, Aurora, and Cinderella are among the "standard" princesses at both venues. Jasmine is usually the fifth princesses at CRT and Belle is the fifth princess at Akerhsus. At Akershus, you take the entrance photo is usually with Belle (yellow dress) while at CRT the photo is with Cinderella.

INTERACTION: I found the princesses at both locations to be equally friendly/interactive. I did like the set-up a little better at CRT. The princesses enter to a little fanfare (quick summary of the story; like three sentences) and then follow a set route. So once the first one goes by, you know that when next princesses reaches a certain table, it means you're next. No more having a princess show up and your is full! At Akershus, the princesses don't really have a route so you never know when one will show up. We even had the character handler come up to our table and ask if we'd seen a princess (in our case, Cinderella) yet because she was about to head to the next room.

GAMES: There are no games/activities at CRT. There was a princess parade at Akershus (at least there was at dinner). All of the kids were invited to parade through the dining room with one of the princesses.

FOOD: Neither venue had outstanding food, but honestly, folks go for the experience and the characters. I went for dinner at both. I liked the cold board/appetizers at Akershus better. I liked the desserts better at CRT. The entrees were about the even (in terms of which I liked).

ATMOSPHERE: This is where CRT really shines. Akershus is fine, but there really isn't anything "magical" about the setting. At CRT, you're eating inside Cinderella's castle! Everything about it seems to say "Disney" to me. Plus, kids get a toy wand or sword (adults too if you ask) and a wishing star.

COST: In this way, Akershus wins. It's only one credit (on the DDP), whereas CRT is 2. If paying cash, I would probably opt to pay the extra money and go to CRT because of the overall experience. If you're on a budget, then Akershus is a good option for princesses.

OVERALL: If you had to only pick one and budget wasn't a consideration, I would go with CRT. I would especially go to CRT if you have children that are into princesses and dining in a "castle." If you have budgetary considerations, then Akershus is less expensive and you see largely the same princesses.

Thanks everyone! Crt sounds like fun but we are still figuring out the budget. Crossing fingers I can make it work! Also curious we are planning on next summer, do u think Anna or Elsa would join with them going to Epcot with the new ride at akershus?

Just a quick note on price if you're paying OOP. The price of Askershus does not include tip whereas the price of CRT does. For us, once we factored in tip (20%), it's only $5 more to experience the castle.

If you want reviews of both look at the top link in my signature. We did them both in June. There are some pics to help. It's really a toss up depending on what you want. Everyone should eat in the castle once, but Askerhaus offers a bit more in value, food and interaction.

We absolutely LOVED Askershus! We went for lunch and I loved trying the (american) Norweigen food, and the princesses were wonderful. My daughter absolutely loved being in the parade. She was wearing her snow white costume and snow white actually held her hand throughout the entire parade. Absolute heaven for a 4 year old! All this being said we will be doing CRT in the fall just for the ambiance and experince, but I guarantee Asherkus is a better deal!

I think that AKershus was less rushed...we were not in a hurry with two young grandkids...and they didnt rush around us...the characters were great and we really enjoyed the food...the food that was brought to the table was hot and delicious, but the kids loved the room with all the other foods...bagels, and cream cheese, and donuts and cereal, and fresh fruit ..that really shined more for the young ones...we liked Akershus much better...BUT like I tell people...that is only our opinion ..not everyone elses
