We are going in August with Free dining. Did CRT last summer and enjoyed it, plus liked getting the 2 free pictures. Debating though if I want to waste 2 credits this time or if we want to try Akershus.

Welcome all opinions! :goodvibes

I would do Akershus if I were you. I really shouldn't give advice though... lol... we did CRT for breakfast on our last trip and we're doing it again this time (but this will be my MIL's first trip and I want her to eat in the castle). On my next trip (just me and my daughter) I plan to finally try Akershus. You'd be saving credits this way too which would allow for more food

Unless you are really set on eating inside the castle, Akershus is better, IMHO, than CRT on all counts.

AND you also get a photo package at Akershus... I believe it's with Belle instead of Cinderella... ???

We've done both. Breakfast at Akershus twice and lunch at CRT once.

We love Akershus breakfast! Great food and its pretty relaxed and if you do a late seating, you can linger long enough to get to sample the lunch food, too. :)

CRT was good too, just being in the castle is very cool, but the princesses were more rushed. Food was good, not fantastic.

As previous posters said, both have a photo package, which is nice.

If saving credits is important, I think Akershus is a great choice and I recommend it. If you had never been to the castle, I'd say try CRT, but since you have, my advice is to try something new! :goodvibes

Where did you get the offer for free dining in august??

I am going with the DB, DS, DD september 21-28 and I am dying for free dining.

I was hoping for it so we can give the kids the best time!!!

Does anyone know when the hours for Sept comes out or when they release FD???

Free Dining was offered as a Bounceback promotion last year, for this year. Some Folks are reporting getting the Special Pin Codes lately as well, for Free Dining. Best bet is end of April for more General Public offers of Free Dining, will have to wait a bit for that
September hours should be posted around February 21st
As far as the CRT vs. Akershus debate, We Love Breakfast at Akershus, really yummy, lots of Princess time, great photo included princess:

Well, I've only done Akershus before. This time, we are doing CRT because we've been told everyone should do that once. BUT, we are ALSO doing Akershus again, too, for dinner, because it was THAT GOOD. I honestly don't know how CRT will be able to compare to the wonderful experience we had at Akershus.

We loved the breakfast at Akershus. It was even my DH's favorite meal. Having said that, we will try to do CRT on our next trip since we'll hopefully be traveling for ODD's 6th birthday, AND she always asked on our last trip to 'go into the castle'! I priced it out though, and I think we are going to pay OOP instead of using any dining credits for it. It seems like a terrible waste of dining credits to me. It just costs $20 or so more dollars to eat at CRT versus Akershus. Total waste of dining credits, I'd say!

I have been to both. The last time I went to Akershus I was not that impressed with the food for lunch. I did however love the princesses! I strong suggest CTR! I loved it when I went there not just because of the amazing food but the atmosphere is great!

Thanks everyone! Yes, in answer to the free dining question, I got it as a bounceback offer when we were there in August.

So the photo package is free at Akershus like it is at CRT? That's great - I didn't realize that - thought if anything it would be like Chef Mickey's where they take the pic, but you need to purchase it if you want. Also, then I assume since we're a family of 5, we would also get two packages like we do at CRT?

Thanks so much - we'd probably do a Akershus lunch or dinner - just seems a better value than breakfast even though I love breakfast.

We did Akershus in Nov and we are a family of 5, but we only got one photo package with Belle.

Also, FYI, I read here on the dis that Akershus is really considered a buffet and they will bring you more food if you ask for no extra charge. I wish I had known that since the portions seemed small.

Also, they did not charge me for my 2 year olds meal even though she was supposed to share off of my plate for free dining. That was an unexpected surprise since it should've been $9.
