How does dinner at Akershus work? It’s all you care to enjoy, so can you order more than one entree to sample at once?

Or do you need to order one then another after you finish? I don’t want to be super wasteful, but I’d like to try several things.

Perhaps I am mistaken, but I am fairly certain that the AYCTE refers to the appetizer/salad bar area, not the entrees. They will take your entree order for one selection and then invite you to partake of the salad section. I’ve never heard or experienced otherwise at that location.

Correct as the PP said. It is AYCTE for the salad bar area. You order a main course, you have the salad bar and then they bring a platter of different desserts. I am sure if you want more dessert - they will bring it - they did for us one year when we were a party of 8.

I agree with @pangyal. The appetizer buffet is AYCTE. Then you order an entree from the menu like at any restaurant. If you want 2 different entrees you will pay for each separately.

Ohhhhhhh. I see. That makes way more sense.

Thanks for clarifying, everyone!

Not to cause any confusion but just for posterity, a really long time ago, maybe going on 18-20 years ago now, the Norway restaurant used to be AYCE entrees, you used to be able to do that. They would bring out one, then you finish it, and get to order another one. I remember having the meatballs and venison. They had the cold bar back then too - no princesses though, this was strictly just a Norwegian themed restaurant.

I remember it fondly, I actually found one of our receipts from back then, the meal cost us $18.99 per person and I remember thinking how expensive that was back then. LOL. Wow, if I had only known the prices for Disney buffets would be in the $50-60 range, I would have loved to have eaten there a few more times.

I love this. Thank you for sharing!

I had assumed the current restaurant would be somewhat like Liberty Tree Tavern. But the limited AYCTE makes sense.

I just want to try everything since I’ve never been there! :) Wondering if getting the meatballs is worth it. Anyone know how much an extra entree is?

The first time we went we were not really sure about the entrees so everyone ordered something different and we shared. So we made our own Family style. I don't think there was anything we did not care for.

That’s encouraging! Alas, we’ll be a party of two, so sharing will be slightly limited. But we’ll get to have two different things at least!

Ah, the good old days, dining has really changed over the years.
